SDSU BSN Fall 2020

Published

Hi all! I applied to transfer to SDSU BSN program for fall 2020. I was wondering anybody here also applied SDSU to transfer so we could share info and help each other! Here is my stats:

Cumulative GPA: 4.0

Pre-reqs GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 85.0%

Have work experience

I have 69 points so far. Not sure if it is competitive enough since SDSU is tough to get into. As long as I checked a thread of Fall 2019, some people got accepted with 68 points, so finger crossed ... My TEAS is not really great so I am thinking to re-take it by the due of supplemental application as well.

Good luck to everyone!!

I was denied admission with 67 points, but I had the option to join the waitlist. They will be notifying people on the waitlist in early June if they are accepted!

Glad to see there was this thread. I was a bit confused by the notification I received. I was denied admission, which is disappointing, but it was talking about eighty-eight thousand applicants apply to the school. Other schools, you hear more specifically about the nursing school.

Do not feel bad for me. I got into Johns Hopkins direct MSN program. I'm still moving forward to being an RN or more.

It depends on what classes you're able to transfer over. The nursing program itself has 64 units of classes to be completed. There are still the upper-division requirements for general education and the writing requirement. If you look at the SDSU SON website, they have two schedules, most semesters are under the 12 to 15 units to be full time, which I assume is to complete those requirements. Also, there are usually a couple under division classes you have to to do as a transfer; this may have changed since I was a undergrad transfer, but I transfer to UCSD many years ago.

Thank you botmann. I've taken all the required classes at my cc, including Psyc 230. I have about 68 transfer units. I got accepted at my CC ADN program, graduating 0522, but I also got accepted to SDSU. I'm just not sure what route to take?

That's a tough decision to make. To me, it really depends on two things, where you think you want to end up as a nurse and finances. The ADN program will cost significantly less. I assume the ADN is about $3-5K total; not including housing and travel. SDSU will be around $25K. You may need to factor in other expenses such as if you need to move, and so forth. You may leave college with a good amount of student debt.

You may want to look at the schools' NCLEX pass rate, how long to find employment after graduating.

And ADN will get you a job as an RN. It may be in a skilled nursing facility such as a nursing home. Many people will do that for a year or two and try to get into a hospital.

BSN may be a good option because sometimes hospitals will get a lot of applicants for a position and will use the degree a cut off; reject those will anything less than a BSN.

Do not forget a there a bridge programs (ADN RN to BSN). There are about a one year program. I think the nursing part is one semester; the rest is the upper division GE.

It comes down to what are you trying to achieve with the program and does the program fit your goals. I suggest visiting both schools and programs.

I had to do similar decision between being accepted into CSU East Bay BSN and Johns Hopkins direct entry MSN (for those with bachelors in something other than nursing). The schools are 2800 miles apart; one is kind of local to me. Tution cost difference of around $60K. Both take the same time to complete.

Has anyone submitted their intent to enroll??

I’m so sad I can’t go to the open house because I already have travel plans for that week, Spring break. I was hoping to do a campus tour

Does anybody know when transfer students normally do their study abroad excursion for the nursing program? It’s required, right?

I know this is a little early LOL, but is anyone going to be looking for housing? I would prefer to have a roommate that is a nursing major as well! I can't go to the Explore SDSU day but I am going to do a campus tour and then look at places to live. I currently live in south OC, about an hour away from SDSU.

I was looking at this today. If you look at the different semester tracks for nursing students it includes it within the plan. I am not quite sure if we have to fulfill that requirement by traveling abroad or if we can take the other classes it lists on the website.
