SDSU BSN Fall 2020

Published

Hi all! I applied to transfer to SDSU BSN program for fall 2020. I was wondering anybody here also applied SDSU to transfer so we could share info and help each other! Here is my stats:

Cumulative GPA: 4.0

Pre-reqs GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 85.0%

Have work experience

I have 69 points so far. Not sure if it is competitive enough since SDSU is tough to get into. As long as I checked a thread of Fall 2019, some people got accepted with 68 points, so finger crossed ... My TEAS is not really great so I am thinking to re-take it by the due of supplemental application as well.

Good luck to everyone!!

Did you receive any more information after that?

Once I submitted the intent to enroll, office of admission sent me SDSUid. Then I have not received anything yet. I am guessing we will receive some sort of notification or direction this week though.

If anyone wants to reach out about roommate, I’m looking! I want an idea of how many rooms to look at because I’m going to look at apartments near campus when I go tour. My name is Brenna McClung. You can find me on facebook or Instagram! ?

Hello everyone! I'm happy to see that there is a thread for Fall 2020!

I transferred into the SDSU's BSN program in Fall 2019, and I still remember the my feelings last year after finding out I was admitted. Some of you might have a ton of questions and uncertainty about what to expect moving forward (I did), so feel free to DM me if you have any questions! I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have!

I tried to message you but it’s not letting you.. I was wondering what a typical week looks like as far as schedules

No worries about not being able to DM me because your question is applicable to everyone in this thread!

SDSU's BSN program for transfers is designed as a six semester program, but you do have the option to accelerate and graduate one semester early if you wish (you need to set up a meeting and get approval from the undergraduate advisor if you want to accelerate).

Assuming you strictly follow the transfer student curriculum [https://nursing.sdsu.edu/programs/bs-in-nursing/curriculum/transfer-curriculum/] and do not accelerate, you'll have more days of class during your first three semesters in the program.

If you are placed in track 1, here is an idea of what your schedule would look like:

  • 1st year, Fall semester:
    • 2 days of lecture (Monday and Thursday)
  • 1st year, Spring semester:
    • 2 days of lecture (Tuesday and Thursday) + 2 days of lab (some of you might have lab the same day as your Tuesday lecture)
  • 2nd year, Fall semester:
    • 2 days of lecture (Tuesday and Thursday) + 2 days of clinical (some of you might have clinical the same day as your Tuesday lecture)
  • 2nd year, Spring semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Monday) + 2 days of clinical
  • 3rd year, Fall semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Tuesday) + 1 day of clinical
  • 3rd year, Spring semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Friday) + 2 days of clinical

If you are placed in track 2, here is an idea of what your schedule would look like:

  • 1st year, Fall semester:
    • 2 days of lecture (Tuesday and Thursday) + 2 days of lab (some of you might have lab the same day as your Tuesday lecture)
  • 1st year, Spring semester:
    • 3 days of lecture (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) + 1 day of clinical (some of you might have clinical the same day as your Tuesday lecture)
  • 2nd year, Fall semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Monday) + 2 days of clinical
  • 2nd year, Spring semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Thursday) + 1 day of clinical
  • 3rd year, Fall semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Friday) + 2 days of clinical
  • 3rd year, Spring semester:
    • 1 day of lecture (Tuesday) + 1 day of clinical

Again, the information above only applies if you strictly follow the transfer student curriculum for your track and if you do not accelerate.

Also, the information above is for your nursing classes only. You might have more days of class because you still need to complete these in order to graduate:

  • Three upper division GEs (one of them must have a cultural diversity component)
  • An international experience
  • Writing course
    • No writing course if you get a 10 on the WPA
    • 1 upper division writing course if you get an 8 on the WPA
    • 1 upper and 1 lower division writing course if you get a 6 or lower on the WPA

However, there are online class options for the GEs and writing course, and it is possible to knock out more than one requirement with one class (for example, a class called HHS 350 satisfies one of your GEs, the cultural diversity component, and the international requirement). Hope this helps!

Hope everybody stays safe!

Did anynody get notified of which cohort to go with?

SDSU sent me an email regarding registrations for fall and I was wondering if anybody already registered any classes.

Also, I am assuming that some classes might be virtual because of COVID.

Hope you're staying safe as well!

If it has not already been done, you should receive an email directly from the nursing advisor (not the university) that specifies which track you are in (track 1 or 2) and which Fall 2020 lab sections to register for (only if you are in track 2)

Class registration usually takes place at the end of your new student orientation (which is in July for incoming freshman and in August for incoming transfer students)

As far as I know, all lectures will be held online. The only in-person classes will be those which involve hands on work (like labs/clinicals). This means that:

  • All your classes will be online if you are in track 1
  • You will have two in-person labs per week if you are in track 2

Here are some links that are worth checking out:

Hiii! You'll need to go to HealtheConnect https://healtheconnect.sdsu.edu/ to submit your records there. It shows you which immunizations they need for you to complete. I got an email with how to order the scrubs and I went to the store to fit some of the uniforms to make sure I have the right size and style. I haven't looked into paying for the tuition though

Which Track did you guys get placed into??? I'm in Track 2!! ? Also, make sure to check your emails for updates about how clinical will go this fall semester.

Hi Larabianca! I also got placed on track 2! Im excited to start nursing classes this fall. ?
