Scrubs and T-shirts

Nurses Uniform/Gear

So to all the guys out there, and ladies with hairy chests (just kidding)...

Do you wear a t-shirt to cover up the chest hair or just let it hang out?

Ive heard wearing a T-shirt under the scrubs is a no-no..........

Just curious on everyone elses opinion?

Our hospitals scrubs wreaks havoc on my nipples (and I am male). Seriously, I have to have a t-shirt underneath. Usually I wear a white t-shirt underneath, which havent been a problem (even in the OR).

Kinda fun to watch your co-workers' eyes bug out. Mean, but fun.

No kidding after having 3 kids and a hairy chest, I'm suprised I don't have bald spots on my chest.

I usually buy some gray or other color good-quality tshirts to wear under my scrubs during the cooler months, since the units are always so cold. During the summer, I go without. Just as an aside, when will they make scrubs for men that don't look feminine, or have a 40 in bust or hips? I feel like I'm swimming in medium scrubs, and I'm a pretty big guy!

I only wear a t-shirt under my scrubs in the winter time. I burn up in the plastic gowns going into some rooms though. In the summer its just too hot most of the time and I am not really that hairy. Besides I work with RN's with huge breasts who dont think they need a t-shirt.

I'm starting nursing school and we were told to wear t-shirts with our scrubs. They told us to buy long-sleeved tees if we get cold easily, but make sure that we can push the sleeves up above our elbows and that they'll stay there, for when we need to. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone knows a good product for these :nurse:

nevur :p lol... I was trying to buy scrubs online and according to the size charts on the site I was using (lydiasuniforms.com) I wear 2 sizes smaller than I buy for street clothes... here's hoping the chart is right because that's what I'm ordering :chuckle

T-shirt under scrubs always. I'm a girl and it just makes it easier to not have to think before bending over; besides, scrub sleeves are always so darn roomy, it's nice to have a little covering under there, too.

In the winter I usually wear thermal shirts, either underneath scrub tops or just by themselves. Can't beat those for comfort :).

If you're afraid of getting hot, but wanna cover up the chest hair, why not wear a tank top? There's some pretty good quality ones from Hanes and they even come in different colors for those of you that like to match everything that you're wearing!

Specializes in Med Surg, ER, OR.

I always wear a tshirt under my scrubs. I don't have a hairy chest, I just like to be as covered as possible. more so of a personal preference then something I "have" to have.

Specializes in Cardiac.

I wear the underarmour tshirts. They keep me from sweating and they are the same color as my scrubs so you really can't tell I'm wearing them.

The walmart knockoffs are half the price and work well also.
