Any study abroad NP programs?
Does anyone know of any NP programs that have sections of the program available in a study abroad format? Or offer anything with in international component? I am looking to get my NP and would love to do something that involves travel.

immature nursing students
You know, I'm pretty darn tired of hearing about older nursing students complaining about other students that are younger than the average 22 year old. I caught a lot of flack from the older nursing students in my class for the mere fact that I'm young--too young in fact. I graduate from my BSN program in Aug of 2010 and I am 18 right now. I took my prerequisites in high school. I knew what I wanted to do and I took the initiative. Immature? I think not. I get that I am a rare case, and that not all young nursing students may see nursing school as I do. What bothers me the most, however, is the fact that I hear many other students make plenty of inappropriate jokes that are met with uproarious laughter. Admittedly I think some of them are funny, but I know that if I had made that joke, I would just be considered an immature little kid. To demonstrate, during OB rotation we watched a movie illuminating the importance of breastfeeding when one older student turned to me and said "I bet that's more boobs than you've seen in a life time!" Yeah, appropriate. Another thing that older nursing students do that rubs me the wrong way is that they state that they have "more at stake" than the young ones. I think we all have the same thing at stake: a career and the prestige of putting the letters R.N. behind your name. This is the attitude I have gotten from a lot of older nursing students. However, there are some that are absolute heroes to me. Some are mentors and some are friends. It's just that those select few that choose to point another select group out as their scapegoat that drive me nuts. We're all nursing students, let's focus on graduating and passing the NCLEX rather than busting each other's chops, shall we?

Just Got a Nurse Tech Job in the ICU
That sounds GREAT! Now I'm super jealous. I can't wait to start working as a nurse tech. The ICU is where I want to work too! Best of luck!

Seattle University
I think I might be able to help, I was accepted into the Fall 2008 transfer and am now attending their nursing school! My GPA was not the greatest, so I'm sure you'll be ok in that department. Although, I think I stood out quite a bit in my essays. When asked why you choose SU, talk about how much you admire the Jesuits and their teaching, that's what I did. I also had a lot of volunteer hours, around 150 I think. I'd like to think it was the combination of all of these things that made me stand out, but it could always be because I was male. Best of luck!

Scrubs and T-shirts
If you're afraid of getting hot, but wanna cover up the chest hair, why not wear a tank top? There's some pretty good quality ones from Hanes and they even come in different colors for those of you that like to match everything that you're wearing!

nursing school options
I think it definitely is possible. I've also looked into the MD program at UW, and it seems that after getting your BSN, the only thing keeping you from getting into med school is a few other classes not covered in a Nursing program, such as physics and perhaps calculus. Also, think about if you being and MD is that valuable to you. Ever consider PA or NP? Both are easily achievable with a BSN and hard work. Best of luck

Crap shoes with after market inserts?
Would it be a bad idea to buy a really cheap pair of shoes from some place like Payless or Wal Mart and put in some quality inserts? Makes sense to me, but I speak from inexperience. What do you all think?

BSN to D.O. or M.D.
I here you. While I'm still a nursing student, I too am considering becoming and MD in the future. I did not intend using a BSN as a stepping stone to becoming and MD, it just happen to turn out that way due to my experiences during my learning process. While I cannot give you a definite answer to your question, I would assume having been a nurse, you would have a huge leg up on other med students in medschool.
