Scrubs in L&D

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi all,

I am going to a California hospital this month as a travel L&D nurse. My recruiter told me that I need to supply my own scrubs. Is that true of all hospitals in California? I am from Ohio and we always change into hospital scrubs so that they can be laundered and we don't contaminate anyone outside of the hospital. It is a ODH regulation. Thanks for any response.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I did my L&D student nursing clinical rotations at a Los Angeles-area hospital in September and October of 2005. All of the nurses changed into the hospital-provided scrubs and left them there at the end of the shift to be laundered by the hospital staff. The students also changed into scrubs provided by the hospital.

I'm not in CA, but we have the choice to wear our own scrubs or change into the hopital's.

i am a full-time employee at a CA hospital in L and D. the hospital provides scrubs.....

It isn't a California thing either way. I am in southern California and know of hospitals that let you wear your own and hospitals that insist that you wear theirs. I have worked one place that did a little of both. That is a bummer for you, though, if you have to go out and buy scrubs! I have always worn hospital ones and started a job last summer where I have to work postpartum for some shifts as well. It was kind of fun to buy my own stuff. I get a little tired of puke green!
