I would ask your school or the teacher, just to be sure, but I'll tell you from my experience.
For my CNA class, we didn't wear scrubs until we went to clinicals, which was the last week of class. We just wore normal clothes to class. As for the shoes, it didn't matter if they had laces or not, they just had to be leather and not canvas. I had white leather, slip on Keds. And, same with the scrubs, we only had to wear these shoes to clinicals.
Hope this helps!! :)

It all depends on your school. I know from all of my theory & clinical experiences from CNA-LVN we had to wear everything white and the uniforms had to be clean and pressed. If you had one smudge on there you would be sent home. I know one girl whose shirt was wrinkled from the botton maybe an inch or so, and she was sent home. Your hair had to be up and off your shoulders, if you bent forward and your hair came past your face, it wasn't up high enough. Nursing school was very disciplined and if you didn't follow the rules, then maybe you just weren't cut out for nursing school is what one of my instructors would tell us.

I did my classes at work and scrubs were required. I only live maybe 10-15 minutes away from work and have a car, so it didn't make sense for me to change after I got there. I could have, but why do it in my situation? If you don't want to wear your scrubs on the bus and you can get away with it, then don't wear them on the bus.

we had to wear scrubs with my CNA class in fl
Thank you all for sharing your experiences...I found out that my school allow us to wear normal cloth to school but we just need to have our scrub on when in class. Also @ my school, we don't have to wear the shoes that are all white, as long as the shoes have more white color than the other color w/ it than it's ok ...I think my school is cool...however I like to wear white shoes than w/ mixed colors.

I really depends on the school. Some people say they did not have to wear scrubs until they started their clinicals. When I was in CNA school, we were required to wear uniforms to class daily regardless if we had clinicals or not. It was a requirement from day one. If you have time to change before class starts, I don't see why it would be a problem. I used to change into white shoes when I got there. I am not good at keeping white shoes white! lol

My advice for the evening:
When wearing white scrubs ... Clorox Bleach Pen is your friend. I went through different brands because someone threw a cherry lip gloss in the dryer of my white scrubs when I was in California and splotted everything! When I didn't have my Bleach pen I used lemon that temporarily cleaned it but once you get home immediately wash them and do make sure your shoes are comfortable! I spent over 60 dollars in nurse's shoes and they hurt my feet horribly. I ended up going to Walmart and buying a pair of those clogs that didn't have the holes for a fraction of the cost. *lol* which ended up being so much more comfortable! Have fun everybody!

For my class we only wore scrubs to the two day clinical and we drove to the nursing home. We wore navy blue tops and white pants. They weren't picky with the shoes.
At my CNA job now, we can wear pretty much any scrubs and any shoes.
