Scripps New Grad RN OCT19-JUL20

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Didn't see a thread open for the new grad program starting in October 2019... how's it going for everyone??

Congratulations! Anyone else at Scripps green? I got my offer today

Congrats to everyone that got offers!!!!!

For those that got offers, can you break down what you think you did that set you apart? For example, how do you think the interview went, are you internal, ADN or BSN, etc.

I’m honestly shocked I got it but: BSN, external, a year and a half of experience as an NA/HCP at sharp, no preceptorship, and I had worked overnight before my interview and was honest about that and made the panel laugh so I think that helped? My portfolio was really nice and I also followed through with thank you cards and emails afterwards. I also prepped beforehand with questions from another post on allnurses about interview questions they ask. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much! It truly does and I appreciate it. Congratulations and good luck on your journey as a new grad, you deserve it :)

Thank you so much! I made sure to mention that I Had OB Clinicals at Scripps La Jolla and was familiar with epic. Oh and when they asked me if there was anything else I wanted them to know my voice changed and they could hear the passion in it when I said i

really want this. The new grad process freaking sucks and I got so many “no”s before this yes so don’t give up

I'm an external with my ADN. I worked as a CNA/Tele Tech/Healthcare Partner/Unit clerk at Sharp for 4 ish years. I singled out the manager whose unit I had several clinical rotations at and made sure to reiterate that in my thank you letter (and thanking her for inviting my school to her unit.) For distinction, I just quickly glossed over my work while in school (working part-time, being involved in my school chapter of CNSA as a director, volunteering, etc) and I discussed how important teamwork and collaboration was in my professional development and how my first goal in any situation is to 1.form a team or 2. Assimilate into a team. I really focused on wanting to learn and expressing a desire in furthering my education.

One of the hiring managers at Sharp told me that as impressive as portfolios can be, nearly everyone has the same credentials. What matters the most is your personality and how well it can mesh with the manager's unit. When you're talking about your future plans, KISS. Don't talk about where you want to be. Talk about what you'll be doing (for me it was about wanting to become a preceptor and teaching new grads and students.)

That's all I can think of from 2 weeks ago. I hope this helps! Good luck everyone!

Thank you so much! The declines are really getting to me and I just don't want my confidence to get shot throughout this process. I'll remain optimistic in the mean time!

Hi , wow I am surprised someone rejected the offer! , also, do you mind me asking for which unit is this offer ? and how many interviewers did you have?

Good luck to you both! I interviewed on Tuesday for the La Jolla DEU (dedicated education unit.) I interviewed with Maria and Trang. I am really nervous... I don't know what to think of how it went! (I think it went well but both interviewers were very poker-faced!) This is my second Scripps interview (I'm internal) so at this point I'm just hoping (HARD) for the best!

@ABSNGirl28 Do you happen to have any advice? Did they ask any hard questions/clinical based questions? I'm interviewing at the end of the month, any information would be greatly appreciated!

Anything would be greatly appreciated! Email me at [email protected] if you feel more comfortable that way (my spam email, don’t judge!! Lmao) Thank you!
