Scripps New Grad Residency June/August 2019

Published

I don't see a thread for the summer cohort, so here it is! Does anyone know what time the application opened? I am on the east coast and woke up at 3 am to try to apply for 12 am pacific time, but it wasn't open. Anyways, good luck to all who applied!

Hi! I'm also on the east coast and it was open/I applied for it around 3:30 pm EST!

I applied right when it opened around midnight and ended up submitting the whole thing with the personality test around 2:30-3am PST. Are you guys trying for the June or august date? do you already have your licenses?

I'm going for the august start date, and I don't have my license. I know my chances are slim, but my fiance is stationed out there so I decided to try anyways. I have a job and place to live lined up elsewhere.

What about you? Are you from the area? Do you know anything about the numbers they are taking? I feel like I did all the things I needed to do in terms of academics/leadership/clinical experience to make myself competitive and in this job market it counts for nothing!

I go to school in San Diego and will be graduating with my BSN in May so im also trying for the august start! No idea about the numbers they're taking or how they're going to split between the different Scripps hospitals though. I wish more people who applied could find this chat and chime in!!! haha

Hello everybody! I graduated in May 2018 with my BSN in PA and moved to CA shortly after. I graduated 8th in my class with a 3.79 and 2 internships, plus a practicum experience and 3 years of CNA experience. I have 2 months of RN experience in a SNF. What about you? Ive been applying to new grad programs at every hospital in San Diego for a year now and haven't even landed an interview. This is my third time applying for Scripps new grad program, but first time I've applied with a CA nursing license. This is also the first time I was directed to fill out the online screening questionnaire. I really have my fingers crossed that I get this position because I don't want to be stuck at my SNF forever! Good luck to everybody, I will definitely be checking back to this thread often.

Good luck to everyone, others from out of town isn't it hard not to look at fight times 24/7?

Hi Nursesandiego! Thanks for the info. I am graduating in May 2019. I have similar stats-- 3.9 GPA, 300 hour Internship, 180 hour Practicum, work experience as an ED Tech and CNA in subacute rehab. No license though, obviously.

How long did you wait before expanding your search to SNF's? Are you finding your current job to be a valuable experience? Have you applied to any hospitals outside of San Diego? How long did it take you to get your license?

Hi nursesandiego!! I graduate in May from a BSN program in San Diego, and Scripps is one of the first new grad programs I'm applying to. I will not be licensed until around July im thinking. Good luck to you!! I'm sure we'll all keep each other posted! Fingers crossed for all of us! ?

Being a local, I'd recommend branching out to other counties. Have you networked? What I can tell you is there are so few actual job openings each cycle that they usually end up going to internal applicants. Just keep trying though. Good luck!

have anyone have a change in status since applying? mine still says submission recieved..

@newbieRNmama mine still says submission received too! I was told that the application is open until the first week of feb for internal applicants, so i'm thinking we won't see a change in our statuses until sometime after that.
