Scripps New Grad Residency January 2024

Starting a thread for those submitting in September for the Scripps new grad program that starts in January 2024.

I just finished my live interview in DEU la Jolla. It was a quick interview; I think it was less than 10 minutes. I'm not sure if they were rushing or trying to get me out of the way, but I feel very discouraged with it. I thought it was going to last about 30 mins and if they were going to ask me more questions, but it was only about 4-5 questions. I didn't have much time with them when they ended it with, "Do you have any questions for us?" I'm bummed out. I know I did well enough on the interview, but I'm just wondering if they will send out a rejection letter before they send those offer letters to other applicants.

Mine was about 20 minutes long, I think they asked about 10 questions. It was definitely on the quicker side, so don't lose hope! Did you ask the when you could expect the hear back?

If I remember correctly when I had asked they said about 2-3 for each of their units (Scripps Mercy)

IDK if they were just rushing because it was the last day for people to interview. My resume , cover letter and LOR were pretty good. I just hope those are also enough to get me in.  I'm keeping my hopes up. They only asked me about 5 questions I think?  This Friday is when they're going to send out emails about the offer letters I believe and rejection letters. So I'm crossing my fingers . Do you know if they send rejection letters first before the offer letters for everyone?

Okay awesome thanks for the update! I don't know, I would assume they'll send out the rejection letters with the offers and do everything at once but I'm not 100% sure. Did you ask how many people they were taking?

Im not entirely sure. im just hoping for the best at this point. But do let me know if you get any emails from them this week!

I wouldn't worry too much about the interview length. My friends that got hired for DEU for the last round said similar things and they got hired. Some that got rejected received notifications the day of the interview.

Hopefully we hear something by Friday.

Thanks so much for the info! Do you know how big your friends cohort was? I've got all fingers and toes crossed ???

They hired 13 for the October start cohort in DEU. Generally, they hire the most 10-15 compared to the other units and hospitals that take 1-4 people.

Hey everyone!

I interviewed for the DEU in La Jolla on Oct 24 (first day of interviews).

They told me they'd be interviewing through last week and to expect to hear something this week. I haven't heard back yet! Anxiously waiting though.

Good luck to everyone, I can't wait to hear when the offers are in!

My friend got a call/email with an offer today for MedOnc. So I'm guessing it has begun.
