Thought I would post another thread on here for the scripps new grad program starting this summer as applications are open for internals and soon will open for externals. I myself am an internal, applied Monday, and have an interview already set for May 7th... Good luck to all!!!
You got this in addition to a rejection letter? I got mine and I'm praying that I get another to be selected as an alternate /: *wishful thinking
Hey! yes i got the generic rejection email and then the alternate one was from A, the nurse recruiter that sent us all the other emails. Positive thoughts that you get one too!!
Got my rejection for the regular residency as well. I interviewed on May 7. I'm 0 for 5 so far with interviews
Coconutgirl14,
I am so sorry to hear that! On a positive note, at least you are getting a lot of interviews. That is more interviews than most people I know from my class. One thing you may want to consider is hiring a professional to help you with your interviewing. That is what I did before my interview at Scripps and I felt like it really helped. Where do you live? I have a contact name/number for someone up here in the bay area if you live around here. Keep your hopes up! You'll land a job soon :)
Thanks Sommerelkins! How do you find professionals to help with interviewing? Are they listed on websites like craigslist, or is there an actually agency that helps people? I would definitely be interested in learning more about that. I actually live in the LA area, but I have no ties here (no spouse, kids, etc), so I'm willing to move anywhere. Is it possible you can PM me that info (if its not too much trouble)? :)
I'm out as well, got my rejectionso-well trying to stay positive as these were my first interviews, congrats to all who received offers and good luck to all in the future.
I'm feeling the same way when I got my rejection email yesterday (this would be my 1st RN interview from Scripps and 2nd overall, with my 1st one from Temecula Valley last month).. I guess not everyone is lucky on their 1st try, but I'm sure that we get better on our next interview/s. Patience is a virtue. We will all get an RN job somewhere.
It's so fun to read the excitement in everyone's posts. For those that don't really know about the DEU, here's a bit of info. Maybe some of you already know do please disregard.
The DEU is a 40 week training program. The main purpose of this is for you to be trained by one primary RN and a secondary RN. The while program is 20 weeks days and 20 weeks nights. You only work on this floor, 7west during your training. It's medical/oncology, but you seriously see all kinds of patients. From flu-hospice care. There are many older patients that are in for uti and aloc.
You start off working 1-1 with your primary RN or secondary RN. They're actually called clinical coaches. First day is one patient. Soon it's two then a couple weeks later you're up to 3. And a few weeks later you're up to four patients. Eventually, they'll have 3 new grads to 1 clinical coach. All of the coaches are great and easy to approach.
The most stressful part of the day is morning rounds. This floor is the only floor where you have to do rounds with the doctor, pharmacist, and nurse navigator. This takes place from 830-10ish every morning. It's hard cause this is the time you're trying to pass your meds and do your assessments for all four patients.
When you go to nights, it's 5:1 patient ratio.
How do I know all if this, I'm in the first cohort for the DEU. Good luck to those who got in. Ill be giving you guys your morning reports!
