Scott and White Nurse Intern for Summer 2015

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Just wondering if anyone else has applied to the S&W nurse intern program for summer 2015! Would love to keep up to date with everyone and see how the whole thing is progressing! They just opened up the applications the other day :) Good luck!

Congrats to you guys!!! What units are your interviews for?

So exciting!!!!!

I received the invite to the meet and greet as well. Does anyone know exactly how it works? I went to Seton's open house and it was more like handing your resumes over with no interviews. But this one says that some departments will be doing interviews. Either way, super excited to go next Friday!

I'm wondering the same thing! For it to be held in one room, I wonder how many people they invited..?? I guess we will find out!

As a current OR intern for Baylor Scott & White, I will say the hospital is great for teaching but you must be assertive. It's a huge teaching hospital and everyone is used to having students and interns everywhere so make your presence known and have a thick skin. Temple is quite cut throat, round rock is a dream to work at and hillcrest is pretty relaxed as well.

Hey fourpeat! Thanks for that information. Would you mind elaborating on temple's hospital and what makes it cut throat? I applied to the NICU and PICU internships so any insight would def be useful.

Specializes in Aesthetics, Med/Surg, Outpatient.

Scott & White is having meet and greets over the next couple months.

Turnover at temple is very high and its mostly filled with people who are there to work for 1-2 yrs to transfer elsewhere. Temple is very large, and filled to the brim with students, especially with A&M's med school attached. Just make sure you are aware of what you're doing and keep patient safety a priority, no matter what any nurse instructs you to do. Nurses on the floor tend to be very catty at temple and no one really has your back but you.

I work at Scott & White now...and everyone I've worked with is great! They love to have students, and are excited to teach you. There are going to be people that are not always pleasant to work with wherever you go, not just Temple S&W.

Any luck at the Meet & Greet at McLanes today?!?!

I attended the meet and greet today and had great success! The NICU manager had my resume pulled from when I applied a few months ago and told me today that I was one of her "interviewees" and to be expecting a call from her next week. The float pool manager had also pulled my resume and I was offered an on the spot one-on-one interview after the meet and greet ended and was then invited to go back next Friday evening in order to shadow a nurse on the NICU/PICU/Med-Surg units which are the units that the float pool intern will cover! If all goes well after I shadow, I'm hoping to have either one of the positions and will gladly accept one or the other! It was definitely worth going to and I am ecstatic! :)

I thought it was worth the trip. I got to tour the hospital which is smaller then I originally thought. And the PICU manger gave me her card to set up an interview next week.
