  1. i've been at my OR for over 2 years now. it is my second job out of school 3 years ago. the majority of the people are great and helpful; then you get the staff anesthesia and surgeons-not residents. the worst part of the job is interacting with some people. with some surgeons, its so bad im afraid for ask a question because they will make me feel like i am the dumbest person on the face of the earth. lots of people i work with feel the same. we always say we have our resumes on standby. before the OR, I worked on in medsurg for about a year. the coworkers were the best! very supportive and nice. i think it was the floor i was on though because i had to float to other floors and they seemed worse off. the reason i switched was because medsurg just became the same ol' thing.
  2. recently had a patient come in to surgery and we had to do an RSI. I'm completely comfortable with assisting in cricoid pressure. this time the crna began moving his/her hands and fingers in between and around mine to where i couldnt keep steady. i raised up for a second (mistake!) and staff sternly told me DONT lift up always press down no matter what the crna is doing. well the patient ended up aspirating. only added to this was that staff told the room (not me specifically) to get the bronch. so i paged overhead and went about positioning. staff then condescendingly say, what i mean was get the bronch now before you do anything else. sometimes i just hate the people i work with. anyway. it just feels like another notch in my post that is my career. i've been here for over two years and have had a few experiences. one other major being a wrong lap count. surveillance xray was taken and the radiologist on call cleared it.. for it only to be found the next day in another scan this happened over a year ago, but now thinking a patient aspirated because i wasnt good enough is getting to me. i already have a hard time with depression and anxiety and now this is just making me doubt myself. i just needed to vent anonymously. i hate making mistakes and it really gets to me and makes me feel like a moron.
  3. Going through the same. Been on my floor since June. It's starting to get easier but still.. It's not for me. I've actually applied for an OR position to start in January. It has a nice schedule to go with having a family as well
  4. Has anyone gotten a call/offer from children's ed
  5. Nice! This is the ED At waco hillcrest? Or where?I havent had a call from Ed in temple so Just wondering
  6. Thank BCBRN! I did manage to go to the open house and speak with/give my resume to one of the only hospitals offering up the ER spot-Hays. Looking forward to applying tomorrow.. still scary since there are so little spots available.
  7. Did you apply to children's Er? They sent an email out...no call for interview. And haven't heard anything from the main hospital yet. Don't give up hope. But I know the feeling.
  8. Interview for mclane children's ED! SOOOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW hahahha
  9. Thank you BCBRN! I am an ADN student and was a little nervous. I was really looking to get into ER with Seton; however, they didn't seem to be hiring but maybe 2 spots... I looooove ER and was fortunate to have the opportunity to have a preceptorship at an ER. Question: Does everyone automatically move on to the second stage after the initial application is submitted? Is that why there are about 7947073410740832767 people applying for just one spot?
  10. Does everyone automatically.move on to part 2
  11. Just got an email that my seton part 1 is approved
  12. Glad I'm not alone. Still nothing from picu or either ER
  13. The only thing I have heard from Baylor in Dallas is that they pretty much only hire BSN grads. I had to email her... I'm graduating from CTC with an ADN. Still nothing here from PICU/adult ICU or either ER. Am I the only one with my phone surgically attached to my hand??
