SCOTT&WHITE nursing internship

Published

I applied to the Scott & White nursing internship to start in June, and I was just looking for people out there who have applied in the past, and when they heard back from them, or even just some insight on the whole hiring process.

I applied just last week, March 17th, to be exact! I know it might be too soon right now for a call back, but I'm just a little antsy about it.

Thank you for any feedback :)!

Hi everyone. I just found out i'm in the ICU internship!! Yippee!! I am wondering if anyone else who got in is relocating from California??? I am coming from San Diego. Big change but I couldn't be more excited!

Also, I have yet to receive my new hire packet but is it true the start date is June 7?

I got into the NICU internship! EEEEEEEEEK, I am so excited:w00t:

I heard the start is June 7th, too! I haven't accepted, but will soon.

...and I'm from Texas, not so big change for me, but:

:hrns&wlcm:TO TEXAS!!!

Congratulations!!!! And thanks!! Do you have to move to Temple? I am trying to figure out the beat area to live near the hospital but since I've never ever been to Texas it's kinda hard. Any tips would help!

I would personally not live in Temple. Do you have children? The schools are not supposed to be very good from what I hear. Belton is a great little town about 10 minutes south of Temple with good schools. A lot of people like Georgetown which is north of Austin and about 40 minutes away from Temple. I would say Belton or Georgetown, and not Temple or Killeen.

Thanks for the info. I'll be moving by myself. No kids. My goal really is to be nearest to the hospital since I will be there almost eveyday I assume. I considered living halfway between temple and Austin but I think the commute would be too much of a hassle. Plus I was really hoping to maybe ride my bike to work. Not even sure if that's possible given I don't know the road situation.

I'd really love to hear from anyone else moving out there for the internship or anyone currently living there. I won't be able to make it out there until May 21st.

Thanks in advance!

Hi There (meant for jillpaige)!

I will be applying to the NICU/PICU/PEDI internship to start in February (I graduate in December). I was wondering if you ended up writing one long essay for your questions or did you answer them separately, yet in essay format? Thanks and congrats. =)

I know your comment was meant for jillpaige, but i can help too!

I emailed the nurse recruiters and asked how they wanted the answers to all the questions, they said they wanted one big essay. So, each of my answers were a separate paragraph within a big essay. Do you understand? I tried to make it flow as best as possible.

I hoped this helped! Good Luck!

Thank you so much! I have no idea how to make this into a cohesive essay but I'll work on it. :D

I know what you mean! When the nurse recruiter said that, I was like...really?! I feel like it's more confusing to read because one question sometimes has nothing to do with the next question, so it sounds really choppy. But, that's how they wanted it!

I think each recruiter might say something different because here is what they told me. I called one of the recruiter's prior to completing mine because I was so confused! I spoke to Ms. Pennington. She told me that it really didn't matter, either way was fine. But she said if you did answer the questions in one big essay, you needed to answer them in order so that it would be easy for them (the recruiters) to find the answers within the essay. So I just answered the questions and did not do it in an essay format. I numbered them as I went along.. I figured it was easier for them and easier for ME! lol

Best of luck to you!! :)

Does anyone know if scott and white interviews a group of nurses at a time or if it is individually? Tips will be appreciated.

Is Scott and White looking for certain grades? I am very interested in the periop one.
