I got a C in chem, C in anatomy, B in physiology, and B in micro.
My gpa is 2.5 and all the college's I want to apply require a 3.0 science GPA Is it a good idea to retake chem and anatomy at another college? Or is a better to take an advance anatomy class and advance chem?? SANTA MONICA COLLEGE won't allow you to retake a class if you got a C.
Help please!!!

I know a lot of programs require at least a C+ in your classes, if I were you I'd retake!

Speak to the nursing dept. In my school the first grade you get is the one they count. Can't retake science prereqs. But check because all schools are not the same.

I imagine you will need to retake these classes. If you got a C your first run I do not recommend taking any advance classes until you understand the core concepts. What you should do is contact the admissions office at the schools you wish to apply and ask for their advice. This will not only give you advice straight from the source but allow you to make contact with them and start to build a relationship with the admissions department.

I would check the schools policy and see if they allow you to retake. At my college, FDTC, you can retake a class and it will only show the highest grade.

Oh no! That is a bummer and I am sorry to hear about your situation! I would definitely recommend speaking with a counselor/academic advisor first. They might be able to override the course repetition block. If not, it might be easier all together to just go to another local school (West LA? UCLA Extension?).
Another thing to consider, even though you are primarily concerned with your science GPA, I have read somewhere that SMC has some kind of clause that does not calculate the new grade into your GPA (if retaking a course you previously passed with a C or above). I could be mistaken and have some outdated info here, but just wanted to throw that out there.
Good luck to you!!! :)

Depending where your applying to they only allow one repeat in a science course. (Most CSU) So you would have to retake it at another school. Try SouthWest

If you got a C..then you can get a B. I have my BSN and I basically had to take a "search & destroy" mentality. Did I have to give up some partying and all that..yep..but if you want the bigtime you have to be willing to lay it all out there. If you studied 10 hours a week and got a C..then you need to study 20 hours a week and get a B. Get it? It is up to you....if 20 doesn't work..you do 30. You need better grades than C..and that is good. You don't want a nurse who doesn't give max effort. If you TRULY want it you will give up some other things and take the pain. Go to the nursing department and ask them..then go to the science department and ask for your options. There is a will there is a way.
