out of school for over 3 years and i dont feel like i remember anything

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

i have been out of school for over three years and am waiting to hear on taking boards. i feel like i will only have one chance at the test because texas has a time limit on taking boards. you must take and pass boards within 4 years of graduating from school or retake the program. i have several nclex study books but get discouraged when open them because i feel like i do not remember anything from school. i was a straight A student during nursing school but could not take boards at that time due to personal situations. i feel like if i could have taken boards after graduation i would have passed without even studying. Also the new format questions are freaking me out. i am open to any and all suggestions on how to study, what to study, etc.

suzanne's plan..... if you only have one chance to take the boards, that is probably your best option... you will eat, sleep, and breath studying for the nclex to the point that you will have nothing left to stuff into your brain by the time you take the exam. at least that is how i feel right now and i will be taking my exam this week. gl!:twocents:

You are your own worst enemy at this point. Resolve to get it together and make the effort. You should use Suzanne's plan and be very intense about what you are doing. When you find yourself wavering, think about the time, effort, and money to retake nursing school. Think about competing to enter a nursing program. You can do this if you put everything you have into it. Most people who use Suzanne's plan pass the first time, so get started. You can start now before you get your ATT. Best wishes.

thanks for ya'lls replies, it is encouraging to get information from others

You can't help but freak out so don't try to do anything about that. We all are.

BUT...

While you are freaking out, go and get yourself the saunders review book & CD (it has 3000's of questions). Start at the beginning and each day do a chapter. Each night do the corresponding question on the CD along with the fundamental stuff. Also, see if you can get access to question banks online. Keep at it till 2 days before your test. And have FAITH.

I am not going to tell you that you won't be freaking out, but at least you will be prepared while you are.

GOOD LUCK
