  1. AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!
  2. The problem is that you have to deny the fact that you are an LPN at the hospitals here in upstate NY. I've applied at 4 of the major hospitals and the response I rec'd (not all exactly the same but you'll get the drift), We will not hire an LPN for a cna position. I am not sure if that is an 1199 union rule or the hospital's rules. Any ideas. I don't want to lie but I may have to come to that.
  3. I've recently signed up with excelsior to complete my RN. They have accepted a lot of my credits from my associates in accounting making it alot easier and shorter for me to get my RN. But... Am I going to experience the same job search frustration at the end??? Yvette
  4. So totally true. So here I am. I guess misery loves company (or at least a little "keep your head up") Thanks Yvette
  5. I am glad that you mentioned that. I owe a nurse manager a thank you. She gave me 15 mins of her time giving me pointers on my resume. I think she knew I was frustrated. She was one of the first ones to give me the "lack of experience" comment. But she stayed on the phone with me while I picked her brain, and she was very helpful. So, before I forget... Thank you. yvette
  6. A fellow student who is in dire straits for a a job applied for a CNA position at a large hospital in our area in order to get in. He said that he had to omit the fact that he had an LPN license or they wouldn't hire him. This is a horrible position for him to be in but I understand how desperate he is. Yvette
  7. If thats the case then I'm in a terrible position. I don't know anyone in the healthcare field. UGH!
  8. I live in the Hudson Valley Region of New York. There are a lot of places to work besides the hospitals. I've learned to get creative as far as where to apply. I've also made calls to find out who in particular would be receiving my resume. I even went so far as to find out who the nurse manager is and call her/him directly. I feel like a stalker! I still get the same response "...experience"
  9. Hi everyone, I realize that I am new to the nursing field and my clinical rotations do not count towards experience BUT... I am so frustrated with the same response "one year of experience required" Uh, helllllo. I've tried all types of healthcare related employers. I have excellent references and I am open to all positions and shifts. I have 15 years of non-healthcare related Managerial & Accounting experience and I have tailored my resume and cover letter to capitalize on the fact that those skills (accountability, attention to detail, organization, prioritization) can be applied to any industry. I have run out of ideas. Please is there something that I am missing? any suggestions? Yvette 2:twocents:
  10. :clphnds::clphnds:Way to go!:clphnds::clphnds:
  11. Thanks Lisa, It makes financial sense to go directly through EC. And as I stated earlier, I am comfortable with the online learning venue. I'm comfortable setting and sticking to a scedule. btw, lpnmaura, that would be an excellent way to monitor how well I am doing an what needs brushing up on. Thanks Yvette 2:twocents:
  12. i called ec directly and they went through it step by step (1.5 hours on the phone). i went online and downloaded the fee schedule too. turns out to be almost half of what the test prep svcs are charging, with alot more support. thanks for your input. yvette 2:twocents:
  13. lol, I'm w/ you MOMTOJOSH. I couldn't stop reading the (Luke & Laura drama) posts. Yvette 2:twocents:
  14. btw, Thank you... Yvette 2:twocents:
  15. That's what I was thinking. The 3 test prep co's made everything sound so good. Yvette 2:twocents:
