School Under Investigation: Ideal Professional Institute

Updated:   Published

Is there anyone knows about this school or went to it like me? I am so worried I don't know what to do,  If I should enroll in another nursing school and start over?... I don't know what to do and when I call them they only let the front desk lady answer who is rude....man now I regret going for nursing this is too much I can't test in NYS due to the investigation and was told that even if I went to another state pass the NCLEX I won't be able to transfer the license to NYS

I didn't put that here for your judgment keep it to yourself especially when you didn't know my situation

This AllNurses thread talks about a similar situation:

I'm not sure if you are responding to my post or someone else (helps to use the quote button) but I'll respond:

My post wasn't a judgement on you and it was entirely based on what I know of your situation from what you told us.

This is direct from the New York BON:

Quote

You must graduate from a nursing education program that meets one of the three criteria below.

1. A nursing education program (associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree or Diploma program) registered by NYSED as license qualifying for RN; or,

2. A nursing education program located in another state or U.S. Territory, if approved by the licensing authority of the state or U.S. Territory as preparation for practice as an RN. (US territories include: Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa); or,

3. A general nursing education program located in a country outside of the United States or its territories, which is acceptable to NYSED.

You graduated from a program which is not approved by the licensing authority of the state, thus, your only avenue to get licensed in New York is to appeal to the BON that at the time of your graduation in 2016 that the program was in probationary period. Hopefully you can make a strong case there. Good luck.

An appeal to the NY BON will probably be a rather long process with very likely little chance of success. Especially given the amount of time it's been between graduation when the school was still under probationary status and now when you are trying to obtain an authorization to test so you can sit the NCLEX.  Though given the circumstances that argument of the school still being approved though under probationary status is probably your only play that stands any chance of success.

I know it's another expense but honestly your odds of success in either gaining that ATT or at least getting your money back are much better with an attorney.

Just my opinion but I think your odds of getting your money back between student loan forgiveness and the Dept of ED forgiving loans for students of defunct programs is better than getting that ATT with no guarantee that  you'll actually pass the NCLEX when and if you are deemed eligible to sit the test.

Regardless of your graduating school's status with the state that's a long time between graduating and testing which in my opinion will make your odds of passing the NCLEX considerably lower.  I'm not trying to say anything bad about you or commenting on whatever the situation was that prevented you from taking the NCLEX before now but realistically your odds of passing several years after graduating much less graduating from a program that was at the time under probation for abysmal NCLEX pass rates are not great.

Most of these programs do not qualify for federal student loans.

Hard to believe but the school still has a web site page up for the RN program:

Wow! That's horrendous. Why doesn't the state regulate these money grab programs better?  I notice the tuition is front and center on the webpage, oh and all financial obligations must be met prior to graduating. Gee, no red flags there, LOL.

Speaking of that  tuition, cripes that seems outrageous for an LPN-RN bridge which is about a one year course, at least it was when I went to nursing school a minute or two ago. I looked up the tuition cost for my alma mater and it's not nearly that crazy. $11,592 plus $925 for tools, supplies and uniforms and that's for the complete 2 year 70 credit ADN program, my old school does still have the one year LPN-RN bridge so figure about half that.  Oh, and the school has a considerably better NCLEX pass rate at 95% for the PN program and 88% for the RN program than OP's school does which admittedly isn't a very high bar to reach.

But what about the students who already have their diploma..what are we supposed to do? I already paid my money I can't get the ATT what am I supposed to do with all of the hard worked and money invested? No one knows how long the school is on probation for?

And if it's on probation does that mean the nursing diploma I have is invalid now and I'll have to start over from the beginning with another school?

hey Hina, we are in the same boat.
