school!!

How many people actually get into nursing without being a CNA first? Does every school go by the "points" thing!?

Steph.

i just graduated from nursing school in may with my bsn and i had had no prior healthcare experience before school. i agree with the others that one is born to be a nurse, and having cna experience isn't going to make or break you in the end. best of luck to you! :)

I had absolutely no experience in anything like people care b/4 going to school ... i think that it might have helped, but not to the point that wasted a semester going to cna and working when you might be able to get into school and progressing from there...too often we have a tendancy to get into a rut and planning on 'someday' advancing [i am going back to school next semster syndrome] my dtr and her hubby are adrn and they have talked for about 10 years of getting bs ..still talking

I am just so afraid that getting the full 70 points for the asset entrance test will not get me in. Maybe I can get a different job through home health and finish out my 6months experience. I just don't know if they will take experience from two different jobs!?!!! Thanks,:o

I got into assoc. degree nursing with point system, and no prev experience. I will graduate in two months.

I think I got in because I had a very high grade point average. Make the best grades you can.

I have no experience, and will be graduating with only clinicals as experience. (chose not to work. My school is very hard and they demand a lot of papers to write. More so than any other school I've heard of) Little scared about that...but I'm passionate about nursing and know it will work out.

And to top it all off....I'm a 52 yr old grammy!:p

So good luck! Don't give up!

My mother died 17 years ago of breast cancer at age 48. I think the last gift she gave was when she decided to pass on. I know this sounds morbid but I really think I the last push that got me in to nursing school was my mother's death. Her funeral was the day of my interview and I had to reschedule.(which is unheard of, but they made an exception and considered this a worthy excuse) I think they felt so sorry for me they let me in!:o

Wow, they let you CHOOSE where you do clinicals? That would be great.

The people I've talked to who are in distance learning seem to have a much easier time working and raising kids then those of us who go to class.
