...except WHINING!!! My. Good. Lord. I work in a high school.

You are 15 years old. Speak up so I can hear you. I have legit had to ask her to repeat every other sentence because she is looking down and talking in this high pitched sad voice that is like nails on a chalkboard.

I just needed to vent for a second there...back to your regularly scheduled programming.

You're, not the only one!!!

One of the main reasons I love my school is that we teach character. I have the latitude to stop whining in its tracks. I tell the student that they are whining and whining is a manipulative tactic to get what you want and that is not tolerated here. I then explain that I will help them without the need for that voice. Wouldn't want to be called less compassionate.

I have this kid, I can tell when he's lying to me, he puckers his lips to seem more sad.

"I don't feel good."

No fever, no other symptoms after asking and prodding.

-You're fine, go back to class.-

*Puckers lips*

"BUUTTT MISSSS! I DONNN'T FEEEL GOOD!"

-What would you like me to do to make you feel better.-

"Can you call my mom? or my grandpa? He can pick me up!"

-No, go back to class.-

"BUT MISSSS!"

-You're fine. If you don't leave, I'm calling the AP-

*Refuses to leave*

*Call mom, mom tears him a new one, he goes back to class disappointed.*
