For those of you with nursing licenses, does your school refer to you as the school nurse or health aide? Last year on the website I was referred to as the school nurse. This year I am referred to as the health aide (I am an LPN).

In Oklahoma, you MUST be a BSN RN with a teaching certificate to be a school nurse. It probably depends on state rules.

I'm a LVN and my technical job title is "Health Clerk ll", but I'm often called the nurse or site nurse. I'll tell parents that I'm the "nurse on site" daily, vs the District RN who covers multiple schools and is present 1-2x a week. The job description for Health Clerk ll is geared towards LVN/RN, but I just hate being called a clerk. Rubs me the wrong way.

I tell people I meet that I'm a nurse in school or even a pediatric nurse who works at school and the hospital (I'm a CPN). I cannot legally say, let alone write that I'm a school nurse. School correspondence says School Nurse- xxxx, RN, BSN, CSN (who is in charge and does mandated screenings) and then "Health Room Staff"- Campy Camp, RN and My Coworker, RN So at least our titles are there. THey pay us para professional rates but want to reassure the parents that their kids with ADA requirements are covered.

I'm the nurse Betty refers to above. While I'm not a/the "School Nurse", they do refer to me as a nurse (and Betty did push for my job title to be discipline office nurse rather than discipline monitor).
