School Cost

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

You know I just realized I have no clue what nursing school is going to cost. I think I have asked a hundred other questions but that. I am looking at nursing school in Lubbock, Texas. What is the typical semester cost for community college, ADN? Take for instance somewhere like the equivilant of DCCD? I will check out El Centro's website and see if they list it, but in the mean time, some of you guys are going through this right now, so you will be my best source.

Thanks Guys!

I think when I added mine up, it was somewhere near 20K. That includes all the pre-req's, the extra costs of being in the program (clinical fee's etc.) that does not include scrubs at that point etc.

This year, well wait i dont want to know...its 284.00 a credit...7 this fall, 12 spring, and 14 in summer

Where in Lubbock do you plan on going?? I attend Vernon College in Vernon Tex. I dont think all community colleges charge the same since tuition rates were deregulated. But looking at my sheet from this Fall, I am taking 8 sem hrs and the tuition is 124.50 for them. Am being charged 24.00 lab fee, and 51.00 institutional fee. Now last year when I started the RN program, there estimated cost sheet said around 5K for the 2 year program which included everything. Even fingerprints and background checks. Now granted some has changed , this will be pretty close for me. Now keep in mind this doesnt include any pre-req's, since they have to be finished prior to getting into the ADN program. Hope this helps

My school's website lists the cost of tuition, fees, and books at around $9000. That is for an ADN and does not include optional room and board.

DCCCD's El Centro lists $5849.26 for Dallas County residents, $7735.26 for out-of-county residents, & $10,359.00 for out of state/country residents.

My scholarship was awarded before the recent tuition increase, plus I moved out of county. So, I have to come up with the rest. However, it's still cheaper than most ADN prices I've seen.

I can't give you dollar amounts but I can tell you that I earned enough working .6 FTE for between three and four months to pay for my ADN.

Best bang for the buck, education-wise, I can think of.
