Hi all, I just graduated from High School and Am thinking about majoring in Nursing field but apparently my family can't afford to pay for me so I was just wondering if any of you guys know any Scholarships websites that I could sign up or anything that will help me with my financial. I have one more request, can someone point out which nurse that could make around 70K or more a year with 6yrs of college?
Thank you inadvance.

Good luck
I'm not sure. You might have better luck on the NP board. I'm sure in the right place, with experince, and a masters you could get $70,000. It might be hard to find though. Good luck
Do you know the GPA requirement to get in Nursing school?

I'm not a cadet, but the ROTC program has some very lucrative programs for nursing students. Bonuses are given for higher GPA's, they pay your tuition for undergrad and grad school plus a living stipend, and there are tax free benefits, as well.
The majors earn over $70k with incentives.
Depends on how hard you are willing to work, and how well you can perform.
The nurse representative for Army ROTC certainly was positive and professional when he spoke to our class. If I were a young person, like you, I believe it would be something I would consider strongly.
Now, I am too tired to do a sit up. Sigh.

I know someone whose fiance makes over 70K a year. She just has her ADN. I couldn't believe it so I asked him, "Is she a manager or something? Is she like, working all the time or at two jobs? He said that no, she wasn't a manager, just a regular nurse, and that no, she didn't work a whole lot more than other people to earn that much. But she did have like 7 years of experience as a nurse already under her belt. I didn't ask how much her salary had grown since she started.
But this may be a bad example because from what I've heard from most people on this site is that nurses don't get paid much at all (like, it can be as low as 18 dollars and hour) and that nurses who expect higher salaries are now getting laid off from their jobs in certain places.
About the scholarships, your school is probably the surest source of them, I think. Otherwise, a lot of people take out loans: my family is poor and couldn't possibly pay for me to go to college at all I took it all out on loans. Alot of incoming freshman are afraid of loans and I used to be but now that I know a little more about financing and loans and repayment and all that, I'm not anymore and even grateful for being able to take out more $$$ in loans to go back to school: they are given by the government especially for studentd and have really, really nice parameters, much nicer than any credit card or bank loan would ever be able to offer you, I think. I dunno tho, I'm still inexperienced financially though, What do y'all think about student loans? To me, they were a godsend and so I really am not afraid of them anymore and advice people to use them.

There are alot of scholarships out there, you do not need to be in the top ten percent. you have your pell grant and state grants that can help you as well. You need to go to a financial aid office at the college of your choice.:)

For scholarships try http://www.fastweb.com
Also as far as GPA, they are all different, but I haven't heard of anyone with anything lower than a 3.0 getting in to school.
Good luck!

do a google on nursing scholarships. Johnson & Johnson offer some and there are others that are best found thru the financial aid dept of the nursing school. As for the pay---you will find that out as you attend school. The RN program is basic for all types of nursing, so you have time to make decisions about focusing on one area over another. You need to solve the "how do I get into nursing school" issue first.
Alright, thank you guys. I'll try out the fastweb.com and my financial aid office.
