Scholarship based on financial need?

Published

I am wondering if anyone knows how much this plays a part in awarding scholarships? Come this September I will be changing over to part-time working 20 hours instead of 40, so this is going to change a lot. I am fortunate enough that my DH works but with me going to part time will will not be able to pay all of our bills.

I was filling out an application and they want me to attach a copy of my 2008 taxes. Of course once they see that I won't be awarded anything. We make decent money together but we also have a mortgage, daycare, car payment, etc... I guess I am freaking out a bit.

Any other suggestions for making up some money?

Thanks,

Shannon

For some scholarships financial need matters, and for some it doesn't. It depends on the criteria for the specific scholarship -- whatever group/agency is awarding the scholarship can determine its own criteria.

Have you checked with your state? A lot of states have grant programs to help people go into nursing, and, often, you can "work off" the money after you're licensed instead of paying it back, which is a nice deal.
