Planning my path through pre-reqs and wondering if its insane to consider taking A&P II concurrently with Applied Calculus? I work full-time while attending school part-time and am concerned that this might be too much to attempt in one semester, and yet for scheduling reasons it would be best to do so. Any advice from those who have taken either?? Thanks!

I wouldnl't do it because I am not good in math and would need extra help to get through Calculus. A&P 1 was very demanding, and I will take A&P 2 by itself so that I can make an A. It all depends how much you struggle with math, if it's easy for you it shouldn't be a problem but for someone like me it could spell DISASTER

I'm currently taking A&P II and had calculus in high school (probably not quite the same). Both of them took up alot of my time, but if those are the only two courses you're taking it might be possible.
Okay, let me change the scope of this question - would you prefer to take Applied Calculus with A&P II or Micro? Or is either combo ill advised? I'm trying not to take the Calculus course by itself because it would mean delaying application to the nursing program by another year
I haven't had micro yet, but I've heard there's less memorization, more application. If that's easier for you, go for it!
I have a great micro teacher, which helps but it is true there is not as much memorization as in A&P (mine was extreme). Micro is pretty cool, it's very interesting, but no doubt you need to study to get a good grade. It just gives you alittle more time to breathe.....it's not as intense as some other classes. And as a comparison for those of you who have taken Intro to Chemistry: MIcro is also a whole lot better than Chemistry. I'd go with micro.

My Micro is a lot of busywork... nothing really to memorize. But it still is a very long class (My teacher said this class should be a 5-credit, but we need it to be transferable, so it remains at 4). So if you're pretty good in math, I'd say go for it. Get it out of the way and done. If you know you'll need a lot of help, I would wait. Whatever you decide, the best of luck to you!
Thanks so much for your input and suggestions. I'm looking ahead to next year, am 2 weeks into Intermedia Algebra now. I'm not sure if I'm good at math or not - its been 20+ years since I've studied math and that's a lot of mental block against it. We'll see how it goes.

Hello, I am new here. So I will start with a hello..I am a pre nursing student in Connecticut, I have taken most of my pre AND co requsite courses..right now its A&P II and micro...I guess the answer to your question would be on hwat your future plans are, etc.. I wouldnt delay another year b/c I am 38 yeras old and have 4 children..time is of the essence!! but for some the delay could mean adding on some co requisite(non Nursing, of course) course, making the nuring program a bit less stressful. In my area, for diploma and Associate degree programs, its a common thing to get those out of the way...good luck with your decision..!!!

I am currently taking A&P II, micro, and Abnormal Psy. Work part time and am a single mom w/ 2 boys. You can do it, would it be possible to reduce your work hours, to allow you more time to study? For me I want to get as many classes done with so the sooner I can get into school.

I'm 39 so I hear ya! In the ADN program I'm trying to get into, you basically have to get all of the non-nursing classes out of the way prior to admission, so adding an extra semester would mean another whole year before application. Time is too precious at this point to waste!
I'm feeling the same urgency about getting my pre-reqs done, but I'm also my family's primary wage earner so unfortunately going to fewer hours before actually starting the clinical portion of the ADN program isn't possible. I need to save my non-working time for clincals. Sounds like you have a full plate on your hands though! Good luck to you :)
