Hey everyone! I was just wondering what you guys are taking this upcoming semester. We can reply here and just check up on each other! I am taking Chemistry, Microbiology, Statistics, and Nutrition! I am prepared to whoop this semester's butt!!! Lol :) also has anyone taken Stats yet? Any pointers? Was it hard? What about the other classes I'm taking? Let's discuss!!!
I wish I could take Chemistry as my only class. Problem is that the nursing school I am applying to starts in June. I have no choice. Though who knows what may happen. I am just going to take it one day at a time. Thanks for the words of encouragement! I dropped it the first time because I was working full time and school wasn't a priority. Such a bummer I didn't have my priorities in order, one less class I'd have to take now! But I've been back in school full time and my last two semesters have been straight A's, so I'm back on the wagon :)I took Nutrition last semester, it was my favorite science class so far! I had an awesome professor who was really passionate about dietetics, and her excitement rubbed off on me. I was debating whether or not to take chem with A&P, but if I recall high school correctly (which I may not be because it was ages ago) I think I'll leave that beast to be a solo science in fall. I hate that I have all these tough classes left, I wish I would've known I wanted to be a nurse when I first started school so I could have spaced out my classes better. I'm trying to take the 4 big sciences, 2 maths and 3 humanities so I can apply to spring 2014, meaning I have to have the most important classes done before fall 2013 so I can apply and get in conditionally on receiving A's and B's in my final semester. Sorry for the explosion of info, sometimes you just have to release to other pre-nursing students because they're the only ones that understand!
I'm registered for A&P I, College Algebra, and Advanced Composition for the spring semester. I've already decided to sign up for tutoring for A&P simply because everyone I know who's taken it on campus has had a difficult time passing it and I want to make sure I can get the best grade possible to help boost my GPA.
Wordsofmymouth- I was diligent in my research and networking and scored spots in the top professors classes for both A&P I and Microbiology. They're both rated above a 4.5 on ratemyprofessors and have excellent rep ore with former students so I feel great!
Brenay- I totally understand about the crunch to get it all done before the application deadline, I'm in the same boat!
This semester I am taking Micro and NUR139 (Growth and Development). It's aggravating that I can only take 2 courses this semester but I need micro in order to advance to 200 level nursing courses/clinicals.
As for Statistics, I took that over the summer in a 5 week period. It was fast moving as we had only 3 tests every other week and those were the only things that determined our grade. I didn't find it too difficult because I found the text book really helpful. I basically read the chapters carefully and it described in detail how to do each problem. Then I would just do the practice questions and compare my answers in the back. My professor was pretty hard, luckily the textbook got me through that class.
Nutrition was very easy, but that could have had a lot to do with the professor. She gave review sheets for each test and her tests were fairly simple. It's an easy subject though so it should be fine! I wouldn't worry so much about that class.
Organic/Biological Chemistry was tricky for me, but again the text book saved me in this class. It had step-by-step examples in each chapter. My boyfriend also tutored me in this class thankfully.
You'll be fine. I am just glad all my pre-reqs are over with after this semester! Now time for the nursing classes!
I am taking college algebra, statistics and nutrition. I am worried a bit! These are my last classes I need to apply to my program. In fact, the application goes out on February 14 with those classes as "in progress." I have spent the last month trying to refresh my algebra since I have not had algebra since my freshman year in college wayyyyy, wayyyy back. But, because of this class, I did not have to take the math placement test or take intermediate algebra. I figure just jump in with both feet and swim like crazy! It helps my husband is an engineer if I get stuck. I am also taking all of these classes online. I figured if I can succeed in an online french class last semester (hardest class I have ever taken), I can do math! Good luck everyone!
You can take CA & Stats at the same time? You lucky girl, you! Lol I wish! At my school, CA is a pre req for stats. You HAVE to take it before you take Stats.I am taking college algebra, statistics and nutrition. I am worried a bit! These are my last classes I need to apply to my program. I'm sure you'll do great! I was able to space mine out pretty well, but I took A&P2 and chemistry the same semester so that I wouldn't have to take summer classes. Chemistry isn't easy, and you are probably smart for leaving that until you can take it by itself. Micro on the other hand seemed simpler to me and easier than A&P. Probably depends on the teacher though.
