SCF Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I will be applying to the nursing program this Fall 2018. Is there anyone who was accepted the last two semesters? If so, what was your prerequisite GPA and what campus did you apply/get accepted to?

If you are applying this same semester what is your GPA and have you completed all nine of the prerequisite courses?

I am trying to determine my chances on getting into this program feel free to leave any advice and comments :)

How hard was the online statistics? Do you basically have to teach it to yourself? I signed up for an online summer B class and I've never taken a math class online so I'm nervous.

Its not hard unless you put in the work. I took on campus but I basically taught myself the material cause my teacher wasn't helpful. The homework is really tedious. If you take it with Christina Dwyer, her study guide is similar to her exams. She's also very nice and very accommodating to you if you need her to round your grade like say if you get an 88% in the final grade, she'll round it to a 90%. She did it for a couple of my friends.

I hate algebra, failed college algebra, retook online and got a C. Took stats in class and got an A. Favorite math class ever.. I recommend Prof. Dwyer. We took finals with her online students in the same room, and they all were failing but her in class were all passing. Just stay on top of formulas and know how to use your calculator. I enjoyed every class.

2 more days guys!!! This waiting process is killing me.

I about jump out of my skin when see an email with the word "nursing" in it but it is only a notification that someone commented on this thread. No offense, everyone! LOL

total buzzkill

Yes, I got a 28. That was a stressful test!

Do you know when the application deadline is for Keiser for the fall 2018 BSN class?

Hi! I applied with a 3.2 as well. I took statistics online and that was a mistake :(, but oh well. I am also missing one class and don't expect to get in based on that, but you never know. I'm taking English 2 this summer and will apply again in the fall for spring class if needed. I've been accepted at Keiser if SCF doesn't work out too!

I'm thinking of applying to Keiser, I have a phone appointment with an admission counselor at 2 later and I doubt that she will answer my question but how hard is it to get into Keiser's nursing program? what track did you apply for? And do you know how many students have applied so far?

Keiser is merit based, not competitive, so as long as you meet their requirements you are granted admission.

However, they are currently enrolling for May 2019 for the BSN. Their classes fill up very quickly.

The tuition is also extremely high. It's worth meeting with them if you want a backup plan, but know these things going in.

Did you get your acceptance immediately after you pass the SLE test?

sorry, I didn't read your username and thought you were BusyBeestudent who took the SLE test and got a 28 on it

There is no deadline for applying at Keiser. It's a rolling admissions, right now they are still filling for the Spring 2019 class I believe. They accept 24 students and then move to the next start date. Keiser has several requirements for their ASN program. I know you need to have to a B in AP 1 and 2 and receive a score a minimum score of 20 on the wonderlic exam, and a minimum composite score of 60 on the TEAS. They are enrolling for the fall for their regular BSN program and for their accepted BSN in Spring 2019. You need a minimum of 25 on the wonderlic for those programs. I have 2 younger kids, so I didn't feel their BSN program was right for me with the intensity.

I think it took about a month to get the official acceptance with taking the 2 tests and then you have to interview with the Dean of Nursing. I did a ton of research on them and will be happy to go there, I am just hoping for SCF since the cost is way lower then Keiser.

I took the 8-week statistics course online in the spring. It was my first online math class (actually first math class in about 11 years!) and I wish I would have taken it in class. There was absolutely ZERO instruction. The modules posted on Canvas were literally the text book scanned into Canvas. The professor only allowed us to have formulas available to us on the final exam. There was around 50 qs of HW for each chapter, all which had a minimum of 4 parts per question. If you have the time to put into memorizing the formulas and working on the calculator it is doable. Most of the "math" is just knowing what to put into the calculator, it's much different than College Algebra. Super disappointing knowing that if I had taken the class in person I would have more than likely earned an A rather than a B and had a more competitive GPA for this nursing program.
