So I'm currently a CNA and looking in to a Phlebotomy course. I'm twenty now but when I was 18 I got a ticket for marijuana. I no longer do that of course and realize how stupid it was but am very worried it will effect me getting into this program. Any one else dealt with this problem? Will it effect my admission? Thanks

It really depends on the program. I'm not sure what the requirements are for phlebotomy courses in regards to background checks. Some might do them, others might not, and the ones that do do them might care about a drug offense, others might not.
I don't want to scare you further but this can also affect your acceptance into nursing school (where a background check WILL be required) and your application for nursing licensure from the BON. But without contacting the phlebotomy program, the nursing school and the BON directly, there is no way to accurately answer this question.

Is a ticket the same as an arrest or conviction?
If its a civil fine, you may be off the hook, but you'd have to check with your school & BON

As this is a nursing site, we mainly focused on nursing, and are not familiar with the conditions for obtaining and maintaining a phlebotomists's training.
A search engine might be helpful. :)

I was required to go to an nursing info session. They said if you had DUIs or anything like that wait 7 years and it won't show up in the checks anymore at that point. Good luck.
