I am 5 days from taking the NXCLEX. I have been doing every question I can get ahold of plus the HURST review again. It took me 3 times to pass the NCLEX-PN test. I've been an LPN for about 9 years. I graduated Rn school in december 09. I go on the 4th to take my boards and am absolutely mortified!!! I don't feel like I am ready nor will I ever be! I don't want to repeat this exam. I feel better preparde than the PN boards for sure but I just can't get over my results from all the tests I've taken so far. On the computer, I get between 50-70% and on the book questions I take I get around 30-70 more right than wrong. I take at least 190 questions every time I take one. I mean I am worried like I want to vomit!
Can I get some input or feedback please?? I am very appreciative but can I ask not to get any cliche' fb? I'm sorry to even ask but I need a nerve easer!

I understand your anxiety, I just took my boards this month. They do make you nervous, it's an important exam! I wasn't a PN prior but I did do the Hurst review. I didn't really care for it, honestly. The core content was nice to review in some areas, other times I felt like "Ok, I really already know this." It IS possible to study too much! Don't get yourself to a panic point of cramming, it probably won't help. If you're doing well with practice exams and consistently getting more right that wrong, this is good... just make sure you understand why you're getting the right answer. Go over the practice test answers w/ the rationales from Hurst. This really helped me clearly understand how to think through the types of questions on the exam. Unfortunately no one will be able to give you specific advice about the exam, as we all signed a legal contract that we wouldn't share any details. The night before your exam, the best thing you can do is... relax. Clear your mind and go ace that test! Good luck! :)

I just took my Nclex-RN 3 days ago and yesterday I found out I passed!! I totally get the nervous wreck thing especially because I took that LPN exam before as well. Let me tell you something, NOT A SINGLE PERSON who has EVER taken the nclex-RN feels completely prepared! And no matter how many hours you put in to studying, there will ALWAYS be questions you aren't quite sure about. So my advice is to study the basics: things like precautions, labs, drugs (don't go too overboard on this but do study what you can), common med-surg procedures and diseases and things that you aren't very familiar with.
And just remember to BREATHE through every question. Concentrate on what it's asking, and work hard at narrowing your answers down, eliminating what wouldn't make sense and looking at all the answers to see which one stands out as different. DON'T drive yourself crazy with how many you're getting correct right now on the practice tests. I've heard people passing with very low practice test scores. A lot of it is just knowing how to narrow the answers down and take the test.
YOU CAN DO IT! I know it's scary but know that more people pass who have a positive attitude about the test! Good luck!

Hi. I just took the NCLEXRN on 01/28. I thought I had failed miserably when the test ended at 75, but I found out from the QuickResults I passed :) I got at least 12 select all that apply which I suck at. I felt like i didnt know anything on that test. Here are some things to focus on.... Precautions...Contact/Airborne/Standard... know everything about them. Roseola is what precaution? Know about your insulins and peak times. Know about diets regarding Heart Disease, Celiac, Ulcerative colitis/chrons, etc You know.. the important diets. Know your labs so you can feel comfortable when they ask you about it.
Its going to seem so hard while you are taking it, but take a deep breath on each question and really focus only on that before you hit the next button. Dont fret about the drug/medication questions... you are not going to fail because you are not familiar with the drugs.
You can do it!
OH MY thank you all! I hva been doing alright with getting more right than wrong in practice tests. I stink at the SATA and when I get it down to the two answers I almost ALWAYS choose the wrong one. I'm 4 days now. I go on thrusday and it's Sunday night 11pm. Just which I could see a diagram on how each test question is measured, ya know, like on the baseline. I'm a overanalyzer.
Kaplan does a good job on explaining how the NCLEX is tested... Go to their website. I think it will make you feel better.
Thanks everyone for advice and encouragement. According to PV trick...... I PASSED!!!!!! I had 130something questions with almost 3 hours testing.

For those who are afraid to take the NCLEX I just want to say dont be afraid. Doing questions and reading rationales is by far the best way to prepare for the NCLEX. Listen to FEUER reviews, buy the PDA book, Kaplan Question Trainer Q's are really similar to NCLEX questions, and review labs. It isn't as scary as we make it on ourselves but practice makes perfect!
Also start practicing answering 75 questions before looking at answers. It may relieve anxiety when it comes time to take the NCLEX.
