Scared but Determined...

Hello everyone! I wanted to say hello first since I'm a first time poster, but as I begin this new journey I know I'll be posting a lot on this site lol!!

I'm 31 and I'm starting my pre-req's this spring semester and I'm scared to death! I haven't been to school in so long and I hope I'll adjust quickly. Are there any other new students who are a bit **ahem** older that can give me advice on how to get back into the swing of things? Also, I want to be a RN then work on my BSN while working as an RN. My local community college has a CNA to RN program. Would it be helpful if I start working as a CNA while attending school? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to getting to know everyone here!!

Hi! I am a thirty one year old. I still have my sciences left. I also have soc 290. I plan on getting my RN license, finding a job, and then working on my BSN. I am just really nervous about teas v.

48. I remember the first trip to the community college to talk to an advisor. She signed me up for my first class - I was the last person on the wait-list and was extremely lucky to get into the class. Lots of people tried to get in on the first day and were turned away. I took notes and drew pictures of everything the instructor was telling us. I only took a single class that first term because I was so afraid I would screw up and didn't want to spend a lot of time and money doing so. Next term (thankfully terms are only 11 weeks long), I took 2 classes. Once I saw I could succeed in 2 classes at a time, I took 3 classes, 2 of them lab class, for the 3rd term. Nothing lower than an A until I took a research writing class in the 5th term. I really loved everything about school when I was taking those pre-requisites. Always loved it when people would tell me, "I hear it's really hard to get into the nursing program" or "I heard it could take a couple of years to get into their nursing program". Once I got to the month I was able to turn in my application, I did not worry about getting in.

my first time in clinicals was a disaster. Not because of clinicals, i kinda liked clinicals, ( i know that sounds crazy, but at the time, i was kinda crazy.) i was begining menapause, and thought i could do it all... i wouldnt recommend any woman whos goin thru that hell to try and do clinicals at the same time and dont expect any nursing inst to give a crap. My very young, perky and clueless inst was also clueless that I wanted to pull her hair out by the roots everytime i saw her. Well anyways, I went back a yr later with the help of some wonderful hormone replacement and I no longer wanted to pull anyones hair.. LOL clinicals are tough, but they are doable and can be enjoyable..

still taking prerequisites. I want to have them completed before I apply. I am very nervous about this teas v test.

I'm 37 and finally starting my first pre-req next week. I'm also terrified but since I've been thinking about this for 6 years I guess the nagging feeling of wanting to be a nurse is not going away! It's been 14 years since I've been in a classroom! Good luck, you can do it!
