Lots of threads on tattoos but....
well, the date on my ring finger is my wedding date. the three hearts represent my kids, each shaped different and in different sizes to represent their uniqueness. and the skulls represent me. they're pink with a bow because I'm sweet and nice to everyone...until they give me a reason not to be. Not gang related ... not representation of some criminal act. Just simple tattoos. I didn't even plan on the hearts. My husband was get a tattoo reworked and when he was done I asked the artist to throw them on me real quick. Thought of them about a minute before my husband was done. I'm definitely getting more. I guess I gotta be careful about placement. I want to be sleeved from wrist to elbow.. guess thats outta the picture. Maybe a full back piece...

The tattoos in question.... might help lol :)

Lots of threads on tattoos but....
Yeah.... those were the ones I'm worried about. They're not scary or anything... they're pink with a bow on their heads. And I actually planned to have all my fingers done each with it's own little expression of me. At the time I worked in my parents little country store and planned on managing that place for the rest of my life. Darn recession... it killed us!!! Store is no more. So I decided to go after the career I always wanted... and those two little tattoos are scaring me.

Lots of threads on tattoos but....
I have several more tattoos that can be covered with long pants and a t-shirt except maybe the one at the base of the back of my neck... it may poke out a little. I didn't realize that people still related tattoos with criminals. My husband and I appreciate the art. I know some may find it tacky or trashy.. but the way I carry myself proves I am neither. My husband gets CRAZY looks from people... he has tattoos on his face (scalloped flame "sideburn tattoo's on both sides), his arms are sleeved, full back piece and his neck all the way around. Don't get me wrong.. when you're THAT tattooed you're kinda asking to be stared at lol! And I can imagine what they must think of him... but behind that crazy exterior is the hardest working man, Manager of a gas/oil field company working in computers and surveillance, sweetest daddy, and the most caring husband. I know there are a lot of people out there who will continue to judge... I just wish they'd take the time to judge us on our actions rather than our tattoos. I'll do what I have to do to move forward in my career... maybe I'll try to cover during the interview and when they see my work ethic and how I carry myself they'll decide to keep me based on what kind of worker I am instead of letting me go because of a few tattoos.

Lots of threads on tattoos but....
I did a search for a tattoo thread and came up with several.... but I have a few small ones on my hands. My ring finger tattoo is covered by my wedding bands. I have tiny skulls on both of my middle fingers. And 3 hearts on the index finger of one hand. I got these tattoos years ago when I had given up on ever going back to school and starting a career. Oh the things we do when we're young and dumb. I don't regret any of my tattoos, but I want to b a nurse so bad and I'm about to spend 2 1/2 years working towards that goal. I searched the threads and because there are so many I didn't read them all. But from what i did read most said as long as you can cover them you should be ok. So I guess my question is are there any nurses out there with visible tattoos? Are my finger tattoos going to ruin my career before it even starts? I'd hate to have removed because they all mean so much to me.... but so does my future career

I have a question about CNA schools.
I asked my student advisor about that too because the course outside of the college was cheaper than through the college. Same course. Same teacher. Same location... She said it is because through the college you are getting college credits. Might be a different reason for your area though.

RN-itis?
I was wondering about that.... would the CNA's automatically turn on me just because I was a RN? I guess it could go both ways... guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens where I decide to go to work.

RN-itis?
My parents owned a small biz for a few years and I was a manager there, but I was taught that if you don't or won't do it... don't expect your employees to do it. Kind of a "lead by example" thing. So when it was time to mop floors or clean toilets, I was right there with them. I didn't just hangout in the office or stand by and watch. With that said... I'll definitely work as a CNA. After reading your replies I feel like it would help me have the respect and appreciation for all that CNA's do! When I was working for my parents, I didn't want our employees to view me as "daddy's little girl" and as a nurse I don't want to be viewed as "the b**ch with a degree". I like to earn my keep :)
-
RN-itis?
WOW!! Ok... now I get it. My CNA friend kinda acted ummm b***chy to me when I said I was going for my RN.. now I see why. I don't see why she would ever think I would be that way. I'm usually classified as too nice. But, I see what she's saying now.

RN-itis?
So I asked a CNA friend of mine about working as a CNA where she works and if she thought it would help me get my foot in the door for when I become a RN. She said yes and it would prevent me from developing RN-itis .... when I asked her what she meant by that, she told me that I'd figure it out. Anyone know what RN-itis is?

Preparing for nursing school during prereq's ...
I just didn't know if I could get a jumpstart. I'm one of those who think too far ahead. A huge downfall of mine. My mind likes to plan for things happening 2 years from now! Lol! It's not that I didn't know my prereq's were preparing me for nursing school. It's my mind... It's always thinking of ways to get ahead lol! Sometimes it drives me a little crazy! Months before starting my prereq's I found myself studying for classes that I wouldn't be taking for months! I wish I could get it to slow down...

Preparing for nursing school during prereq's ...
I was wondering if anyone has prepared for nursing school during prereq's. Are there any books or study guides you would recommend? Is it even possible to prepare for NS before you even start? Lol!

What's your pre-nursing new years resolutions?
To have more confidence in myself. To eat healthier and get back on track with my workout routines. To get more organized. To ignore all my so-called friends that doubt me and give me looks when I tell them I'm going for my AASN. Looks that say "yea right" ... it hurts and just because they've decided to give up on being successful doesn't mean I have.

Scared but Determined...
I found out today that mid-thirties is the average age of the students where I'm going. I have to say a lot of my being nervous was because I was afraid that I'd be the oldest student in class lol!!
