I am currently at Owens and yes it is a couple years later and the RN program is not yet fully "Nationally Accredited" as of yet. However, according to their website, the RN program is regionally accredited and there are many institutions that are accepting their RN degrees. If you can pass the NCLEX thats really what matters. I know some ppl who have recently graduated from there with RN degrees and they had no problems finding jobs. I didnt hesitate going there and would recommend owens to anyone.

CI's claim that students are too overly emotional and they never do anything to cause it. I disagree because I had a CI who every chance she got would say or do something to a student just to make them cry. It was obvious that she was power hungry and she thrived on seeing others hurting. She would pass students in the hallway at clinical and say cruel things to them just to upset them. Many students would hide from her and cry. My situation was I was getting good grades and I was doing well in clinical and she told me I was doing well. I'm a much older student and I dont have an ego and I was open to doing whatever I needed to do and whatever i was told to do all in the scope of being a nursing student. I am somewhat a very humble person and have no problems taking and following orders. One week after mid term evals. she cornered me in a room, closed the door, looked into my eyes and told me YOU ARE DONE! I didnt know what to do. I knew I couldnt talk to her about it, cuz shes the one who threatened it. So I went to her boss and her boss blew me off, so i went to the dean and the dean wanted nothing to do with me. I left that school and I have since enrolled elsewhere and I am in an honors program and doing well. YES! there are some CI's that are in it to torment and I know many other past nursing students who would agree. And to all the decent caring CI's God Bless YOU!

my first time in clinicals was a disaster. Not because of clinicals, i kinda liked clinicals, ( i know that sounds crazy, but at the time, i was kinda crazy.) i was begining menapause, and thought i could do it all... i wouldnt recommend any woman whos goin thru that hell to try and do clinicals at the same time and dont expect any nursing inst to give a crap. My very young,perky and clueless inst was also clueless that I wanted to pull her hair out by the roots everytime i saw her. Well anyways, I went back a yr later with the help of some wonderful hormone replacement and I no longer wanted to pull anyones hair.. LOL clinicals are tough, but they are doable and can be enjoyable..

49 here! and i say go for it! you will do fine.. i was outa school since 1980 and decided to go back in 2001. i loved it! the school i went to was predominatley 30+ yr old students, but the younger ones were very excepting. I met and made friends with some and we stil keep in contact and one is my middle daughters age which is 29... just do it, jump in and enjoy the ride!!!!
