Saunders questions vs Kaplan's questions

Published

My board exam is in couple of days and I'm doing only the Q's. I like Saunders better because they have wonderful rationales but their are kind of too easy.

Kaplan are much harder but the rationales sucks and I don't feel like learning anything it is just making me feel like I'm total idiot because I'm getting only 60% on the tests. I'm using now book from Linda Anne Silvestri about the strategies and it seems as a good material just the Q's are very easy.

It is enough for me to do the Saunders or should I do more of Kaplan?

If you're happy and comfortable with Saunders, no reason why you should stray from that. Saunders worked fine for me :)

I agree Kaplan's rationales aren't always the best. I only use Kaplan as a gage to see how I would do at the boards because everyone says their questions are similar to the boards.

If you are looking to gain info from studying rationales, I would stick with Saunders.

I used both Saunders and Kaplan for boards. I also used Mosby's CAT. I really like the combo of all 3 and felt that it was Saunders that helped me with the "easier" questions on boards, thus allowing me to get to the "harder" questions that Kaplan helped me with. Mosby's Cat has very different and unique questions that helped prepare me for odd questions. Many perple feel that if they just study the harder questions of Kaplan that they will pass their boards, however, if you don't know your content all that well, you won't even get to the priority/delegation types of questions. Just my input and the combination of all three together gave me confidence and helped prepare me.

Hi livtek...

I just took the boards on Monday. I didn't use Saunders or Kaplan, BUT, if your boards are in 2 days then I'm sure that you have done plenty of questions to prepare!!

I studied WAY too much...up to the very morning of the exam and my mind started to actually become overwhelmed with all the material etc. starting to run together. I did pass; although, I should have rested more the day before....I was exhausted....STILL trying to recover :zzzzz !!

Best of Luck to you....Trust yourself that you have fully prepared and you know your stuff :) !!

I think you are right I read every book possible I did around 4000 q's but still I miss some and sometimes I feel I don't know enough because I never took the boards and everyone is saying such war stories. I don't know what to think just tell me is not so bad to encourge me a little bit.
