as i scan the newspapers weekly for jobs, i've seen hospitals in saudi looking for male nurses. i think they hire male nurses fairly equal as they hire female nurses. it's just that, they require hospital experiences.:D

>>> could you name those agencies that hire male nurses please!!!

Thanks in advance. ;)

Hello echo23... I do hope that you did not grab this nonsense offer! 18 thousand pesos a month with 3 years of contract?! that is insane! i am working here in the philippines earning 19 thousand pesos as a company nurse. please be very careful with this kind of offers from agencies. you will be working as a stay-in caregiver and not a nurse in a hospital :nono:. please....think twice! do not be so desperate in accepting this kind of offers from any agency here in the philippines. you will be exploited! :down:

@Blabber

I would like to know more about what you mean when you said BE PREPARED. I am now tempted to work in Saudi now that most of the hospitals here in the Philippines are not hiring. :( i have no experience yet, i graduated last year and passed the local boards the same year. Is it safe for female nurses to work there? are they some kind of a maniac or something? :D Peace! :)

Hi DianneRN,

When I said BE PREPARED, I meant prepare yourself emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.

EMOTIONALLY - because you'll be away from your family and loved ones. No support system around you. You'll be lucky to find trustworthy friends but always be critical of people around you. Even your fellow countrymen (kabayans as we call it there) will take advantage of you. Trust no one but yourself, that's what I learned in my 5 1/2 years of stay there.:p

PHYSICALLY - because the demand of work is very different here in the Philippines. Although most hospitals in KSA is already computerized, the demand of the job is stressing and you will encounter different type of family members that you need to please more than the patient itself.

MENTALLY - because of the different cultures and mentality of the different nationalities you'll be encountering not only on your workplace but socially. that is if you will have any social life. :zzzzz

SPIRITUALLY - because you're going to a Muslim country. take note of their practices, beliefs and teachings. there are some things that you cannot do to a patient who is muslim so be careful. at work, you may find yourself alone (if you're the only one who is not muslim) during prayer time :bow:.

Hope this helps.

I really hate it ever time I see on tv such kind of situations, e.g. domestic helpers who tried seeking help from the Philippine embassy itself because they are maltreated or even those that are being cheated of their recruiters or even still from our embassy, and make them prostitutes. I just can't afford seeing those kind of people who only cares for themselves and the money that they're going to earn, thinking that we share the same nationality. Neither do they know that those people that they're subjecting for prostitution also have their own dreams and goals that they thought would be fulfilled if they'll be able to work abroad. And I feel really really disappointed every time I ask myself why our government can't do something about it. Anyway, how can they really do something about it if there are beneficiaries of this ruthless doings in our government itself. :zzzzz:cry::nono:

Wow. Thank you! I'm just curious, what does a non-Muslim do during prayer time? Have you had unpleasant experiences with patient's or relatives when you were there? If yes, how did you handle it? My friend knows someone working there who was hit with a pitcher by the relative coz she's not fluent in Arabic well yet at that time, so she handed the wrong object to the patient.

I can relate to how you feel. It's depressing to hear people suffering coz of the selfishness of another. Anyway, I would like to commend still those un-named government people who truly help the OFWs and has genuine concern for them, not just because they're running for a post in the next election.
