Good Morning. I thought about starting the thread, but knowing me, I would mess it up. I went on a kayak excursion Thursday night with former co-workers, to see the bioluminescence in the bay. We paddled out about 3/4 of mile and waited for it to get dark. I was a little nervous, as I am not a swimmer, but I had a life jacket and the water was calm. It was quite beautiful. The easier way for me to see it was with dipping my paddle in the water and swirls of sparkles would show up. On the way back, it showed up from the wake from the bow. We also saw Starling overhead. Im glad I went, but boy howdy, I am sore.
Yesterday we drove to Seattle to take sis for a consult about a procedure I thought that she understood. Well she didn't, and now she's not sure she wants to do it, despite a recommendation from her cardiologist. I was a little frustrated, but tried not to show it. Maybe she'll change her mind. The consultant was very nice, but I felt like we wasted her time. I know we ran over our allotted time, because her phone started beeping like crazy.
dh has decided we are going to line the backyard with wire fencing today, but first, he has to mow and weed-eat. And he has to make a list, and he'll have to go buy supplies. Sigh.
Many happy returns, TMB. I like quiet days, too.
Tweety, I hope you and your doctor are compatible. Insurance stuff is a mess. And it doesn't get easier with Medicare.
Stars, I've seen dogs on instagram with those pjs. I suppose for a short coated dog, it can offer some comfort.
Good day to all.
Okay, I've done the errands (again) and got the deer corn, put it out; switched the wash into the dryer, and am 'watching' the baseball game (Marlins vs Braves). It's already time to think about supper ? my 'favorite time of day'; yuh, right! I may stop by here later.
HAPPY (quiet) day-late BIRTHDAY wishes, tmb ! (Hushhhhhhhh!)
Happy Birthday TMB!
J22, sounds like a lovely time.
Worked today and was in charge, and made an unpopular assignment to one of the night nurses and made her take a difficult patient she didn't want. Boy did I get her wrath. She's a New Yorker and always complains, literally every time she comes in which thankfully is only two days since she's almost retired, so I told her to get it out of her system but the assignment stayed and I told her why.
Wishing you a good and peaceful next trip around the sun, TMB.
J22, that sounds like a fine evening.
Not much going on here. Hubs has had steps forward and backward with fixing the Jeep. Not sure how it will all go. The Sooners easily defeated Tulsa in the football game today.
My deep thoughts for the day: have you ever really looked at the word snooze? It's a funny-looking word. Every day when I hit the "snooze" button I think "is that really how it's spelled? It looks funny". Maybe it's just me. ?
Ado, In the Little Lulu comics I used to read when I was young, Lulu and Tubby liked to repeat silly sounding words, one of which I do remember: Purple. See how many times you can say it quickly and it just sounds like 'prprprprprprpr'. I wish I could remember some of the other words they did that with; I do remember how, by the third or fourth panel of the cartoon they would literally be ROFLAO, before computer-language ever thought of being thought about. There would be several panels of:"Hahahahahahaha", before they would choose another word. I tried out the word snooze and it ended up like 'snoosnoosnoosnoosnoo' Fascinating, ain't it? ??? I also like the Brit term for umbrella: 'bumbershoot'. I'll let you try that one out on your own.
Welp, so sad, but the Braves lost to the Marlins this afternoon. ? However there is another game tomorrow night.?and one can always hope....
I got a few dog things at Walmart today...a brush (short hair breeds like to shed freely), some 'calming' nom-noms for small dogs, and some chicken babyfood in case I needed to entice her to eat whatever it is my friend is bringing up when the dog is delivered. She has spoiled Mojo with pieces of REAL chicken, and the last time she put down Mo's food, the dog looked up at her as if to say, "That's not chicken!" Baby food meats are well loved by dogs, as a coating for possibly making dry food more palatable. I couldn't find the drops I used to give Ozzie to cool his jets about loud noises. , but can probably get it when I take my car out to the dealership to have that blessed "low tire" light on the dashboard taken care of. The Earth Fare store isn't very far from the dealership. It's way out a mile away from the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Bruton Smith Blvd...(actually still in Concord.) It is THE big raceway here. I just consider it a good OBVIOUS landmark if I find myself needing to give directions, but never go out that way when there is a big event taking place there!
I got some scratch-off tickets at the convenience store the other day and I have only scratched off a couple of them, winning ZER0 $. Maybe something beside a $5 prize will be revealed.. Once up in Asheville I actually won $27 on a $2 ticket. I don't do this every week, I just had a wild hair last week that provoked me to buy a wad of them. (hanging my head in shame, UNLESS I win some DECENT amount....) And it has been a whole week since I got them; I keep forgetting to scratch them off.....but according to the small print on the back I have 90 days to turn them in if I win something. THAT would require a road trip to Raleigh if the amount is considerable. But who knows!
I Lidocaine-patched my left knee and a portion of my right knee, and my right hip and lower back. I don''t know how I could get through a day without the patches, if something kicks up. Between them and the meds I take, the roar of my "Ooch-ouch-Ssss!Ouch-ouch-ooch!" usually dulls down. Evenings, my left lower limb is covered from hip to ankle in an odd collection of different cold packs and coolpacks while I sit on the sofa. I've been sitting on that same sofa spot for 7 years and have had to pad it , to lift up one hip to be level with the other. Hey! Maybe I can win a scratch-off that will pay for a new, COMFORTABLE chair or sofa
Hubby is c/o of his left shoulder pain. GO see a doc where I go, get an xray and IF it is bursitis he can get a Lidocaine-Prednisone shot which will take care of it nicely. If it is another kind of left shoulder pain, uh-oh! If he would just go see some other doctors he could find out What he seems not to want to know. Sad to see this once vibrant, active, strong guy now doing nothing but drinking, drowsing, staring at the floor with an exhausted, bereft expression on his face. Tsk. I guess he really doesn't want to have to go through the hard work of kicking his addiction, like actually doing something, working within a framework to help him. It's like he's given up, and he may very well have.
Can't rely on him for any help at all, not even doing something concrete about his mom, (who he resents more every day,.) like calling nursing homes, doing a tour, talking turkey about costs, getting something set up. He ain't a-gonna do it; it is easier to grouse about her. I can start the process again, I guess, but I don't have the POA, he does. I will have to drag the drunken, slurring POA to nsg homes so he can conduct business. And if he is in a mood, he could get testy with whomever we see/talk with, especially about $$$$, which would effectively cancel out any residential plan. AUGH!
But I am actually okay, and handling this okay, though my wheel-barrow is too full of scheist or schiest.....(Potaytoe, potahtoe) it's the same old same old, yet I am thankfully able MOST of the time, if it ain't my stuff, I let it float out and away. Don't get me wrong; there are still days when I grit my teeth and keep my mouth shut because I feel so pizzed off. But I am doing better than I was a few weeks ago.
I am in dog limbo and waiting, waiting waiting.....?

Since I'm likely the last one to start a new day, it's unusual that I would initiate the daily diary.
I had a quiet birthday yesterday. Ate dinner by myself while the grandson watched PBS cartoons. It will be a quiet day in my bit of Alaska. I hope all of you also have quiet days.
