Tweety I can see how frustrating that would be, after spending all that money

Stars the frustration is understandable, caregiving can be very draining

NJ22 I find lately that office staff seem disorganized and uncertain

Well, the trip has proven a disappointment.  There's the small stuff...colder than expected temperatures, hotel kind of run down, sights not nearly as interesting as expected...but the big disappointment is that I realized I was just going through the motions on this trip, not really interested in or enjoying anything.

Normally when I travel I travel with someone, to see someone, or to a place I have a connection with.  This trip was an experiment where none of the 3 applied, and I got an answer, which is the one good thing

So I will head out early for breakfast (at least the food has been good so far) and then I'll head back earlier than planned, and try to get some birdwatching in before I get home.

Svengoolie has a movie from the 60s that looks like it might be interesting, will catch that

Will be a bit warmer today, in the low 50s

Joe, as you said, you asked a question and answered it during your trip.  It IS more enjoyable to go with other like-minded, compatible ppl.  Trip was not a failure, however.  You did some things and ate some good food, and got out of the house, and (again) answered your question. 🙂  Good on ya!  Safe travels home.

Didn't sleep last night, only about 2 hr.  Nap time coming up!

Hope you all have a good day!

Howdy to one and all~

SiL came over mid-day and gave Nannie a shower and shampoo, curled her hair and blew it out, got her dressed and out to the recliner. She also dusted the den, vacuumed, and washed the floor in Nannie's room. BiL brought the trailer back, and we've got the beginning of another dump trip in there already. Always more to fill it, though!

I got a lot of the junk in the big main bedroom cleared out. SiL is good about helping figure out what to toss out; lots of knick-knacks and more OLD Christmas decorations that were littering that room are now GONE. I still haven't stripped the bed, as there are still things on the bed that have to be gone through, but a little at a time, the tasks will be getting done.

She hired someone to come see if they can clean the kitchen floor better than we have been able to do. Hubby kept using Mop'n'Glow; the mop pushed the dirty water to the edges of the room, and he never cleaned the edges the floor, though, so that is where the wax in that product now has taken up permanent residence. It looks terrible. Don't know if they'll be able to get it up though. Stanley Steamer said they will not even try to clean floors that have been waxed....? What, they can't 'strip' floors? I guess not, because SiL had to talk to a couple of cleaning businesses before she found one. She will be here to 'supervise' and PAY them! I don't know what good it will do to clean the hideous, old, orange shag carpeting on the stairs to the den, but SiL wants it done, so who am I to argue? Actually, IMHO we need to rip it up and toss it out, but I don't know what shape the actual stairs are in, underneath that carpet. The orange shag came from, I think, four previous re-decorations ago. It matched the long-gone, horrid orange plaid sofa she once had (shudder....urp!) Thank goodness the room rug of the same color was torn up and tossed out long ago!

I ran out briefly and got 2 tickets for the big NC Powerball drawing tonight, Whaddizzit now? Eighteen gazillion bucks? Something unbelievably high, anyway. SiL said she would drive me to Raleigh to turn in the ticket if I were to ever win a goodly amount. Yeah, yeah, fingers crossed and all that. Huh. Maybe one day I will be pleasantly surprised to win something more than $2, which is what the tickets cost.

Earlier, Nannie had told SiL to go out to the back yard and check and see what it is that "landed in that bush"...... Nannie said she thought it was a pair of someones panties! Oooh-kay! It was merely a fat branch of white flowers blooming out, ie NOT 'bloomers' and not panties.  🙄

Though she is just now dropping off into her nap, soon it will be time to think about what's for supper for Nannie; my least favorite time of day. She's easier to feed than hubby ever was,  I'm easiest of all to fix supper for! I will eat cold leftovers if it suits me! Or some frozen something-or-other that takes 4 minutes to nuke. I really don't care right now; I am not hungry, as I ate something earlier. I don't usually eat breakfast or lunch, but SiL had brought over home-made bacon+scrambled eggs sandwiches for us, so after I took off the top of the bun, that's what I ate.

No more blah-dee-blah to yak about, so.......Hope y'all have a good evening!

Good evening.

The trips I've taken alone have been good ones like India, Thailand and the Grand Canyon.  It is so much better going with my best friend though.

Stars, I'm still impressed how her son and DIL have stepped up to the plate for her and thus for you.

Work was okay.  I had two patients and in charge of the two units.  Had a patient fall at the very last minute before we were leaving.  Bleh......

Yesterday late afternoon I had put in a wash, but couldn't put it in the dryer because it was so late. Nannie had to go to sleep and couldn't sleep with the dryer on. I didn't even think about it until early evening tonight. I decided I could dry it before Nannie went to bed tonight. WELL, I started taking things out to put them in the dryer, and......found out that Nannie had put in two used pads just BEFORE I started the washer yesterday. Both pads had totally shredded cotton all over EVERYTHING !!  I mean OMG! 😫 ☹️ 🙄 😝

I put just the dark clothes in the dryer with a couple of dryer-sheets, HOPING it would eliminate SOME of the crazy monster-explosion of lint. We'll see. Probably will have to wash the darks a few more times to get most of the crud off. I will also have to wash the light colored clothes several times tomorrow, too.

BLECH! RATZ! PHOOEY! Grumble-grumble-grumble.

Stars, what a mess! Hope it isn't too hard to get everything back in shape.

Joe, you are right that you learned something. I do find it more enjoyable to travel with or to see someone else. Or, like you said, have a definite goal in mind.

Cute doggos, J22!

Tweety, we once replaced a well pump thinking it had stopped working. After replacing it, Hubs found that there was an emergency switch that had been turned off. He really beat himself up over that. I took the view that replacing a 30-year-old well pump was just good preventive maintenance. But I can relate all too well to your situation with the keys.

I took the pets to the vet yesterday to board them so we can make our little trip to try to see the eclipse (it's going to be cloudy where we're going). That is going to be a big expense because they're having to stay from Friday to Tuesday. I hope they all do OK. It's strange not having them around.

My mood has been a bit low. Some things going on at work are emotionally exhausting. I got a text about a contract in Ada (where I did contract work before) for something like $1880/wk. And it's almost tempting.
