Good morning from North Carolina.
Ado, great he would recover so well. Fitness helps but you can't out exercise atherosclerosis.
Had a delay on Tampa and missed our connecting flight to NC and spent six hours in the Winter. But made it. Anxiety level is better. My parents are 85 and 88 and more frail than last time I saw some but doing okay.
It's cold here. Was 42 this morning! very cold for me.
Have a great day
Tweety, good you arrived safely, even in spite of the delay. Hope you brought longjohns and other warm clothing! ?
Joe, how was the birdwatching? Do you eat cornbread by itself or with chili or ??? Butter and honey??
So, I managed to get through my first week of retirement, LOL! I set modest goals each day, and met them. April will be my first month getting income from SS and from VA pension fund. I know when SS check will come, just waiting to see when pension will arrive.
We have Zoom Sabbath School going now (introductions and welcome first, before lesson study).
So far we have two musical commitments in April. One is at the local Christian TV station, to do two songs for their Tuesday night Christian Connections (live broadcast). The second is to do two songs for a friend's mom's graveside service. That one will be at 9am, about an hour from home. THAT will be an early day! She requested I'll Fly Away and Far Side Banks of Jordan.
We also have Sunday 4/24 planned for Dapper Day -- we have reservations and are SET to go! The trams are running (yay) and musicians are playing (we know of at least one friend playing). Looking forward to a fun day there.
OK, the lesson has started, will check in with you later! Have a good day!
I slept VERY late today; I'd be too embarrassed to tell you just how late!
Last night I was reading the fifth book of the Outlander series. The plot is now in the pre-revolutionary times, working toward the Revolution. So what song did I have in my mind when I woke up today?
"Old Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise/ if we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked 'em in the eye / We held our fire 'til we see their faces well/ then we opened up our squirrel guns and really gave 'em .....welllll, we fired our guns and the British kept a'comin'/ there wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago/ We fired once more and they began to runnin' from down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico/ Well, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles/and they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go/ they ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em/ on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico."
Sorry for the ear bug, but I was trying to get it to leave my brain. Except now, because of JOE, yes you, Joe, I have a song from the 80's circulating in my head, that starts with that cute little piano riff, and the Chorus goes: "Aroooooo, Werewolfs of London, Arooooooo!" ....etc. Can't remember the artist or group, though.*
*where's our herring when you need her? She was my go-to search-librarian. I sure hope she's okay. I miss her something fierce.
Tweety, I'm going to step out on the back patio and wave to you, since you are currently somewhere in this state. ?♀️< it's not our old 'wavey' emoji, but it's as close as I can find. Hope you are having a tolerably good time.
I'm not what you'd call a goal-setter, exactly. I have a calendar on the wall and my 8"x 5" notebook/brain that I carry around with me, just to help me keep track of myself, and that's the best I can do. For example: *4/4 J&J shots, *4/7 Baseball Opening Day for Braves, *4/21 Bring KIA for airbag recall (1-2 hrs) .
Sooooo, Nannie is asking AGAIN when 'that man' is coming to get the wood. I let hubby handle it now. My standard response is "I don't know."
Time to watch the local NOOOZE ~ see yez laydah ~
Villanova lost to Kansas. Boo hoo!! Score 65 - 81.
Next U of NC vs Duke. BIG rivalry there. But 'Nova is out but I'm not changing the channel.
The gals, U of Conn , play finals tomorrow. I really don't follow the gals much, but over the years they 've been catching my attn. They deserve kudos for their athletic skills.
71 and sunny today. Did some grocery shopping and picked up refills for the dog. Cooked. Otherwise accomplished little. Dory dog had a bad night again and the night before was a little rough, too. Today she is still agitated. She calmed down a little when we were outside earlier. Hubs has taken her outside now. I need to talk to the vet again. I don't know what's left to try. Poor Twin B doesn't have a bedroom since Gma moved in and he can't sleep with the dog being frantic. I hate to think about this being a reason to end her life.
Hubs was replacing the water pump on his beloved '95 ('96?) Jeep and managed to put a hole in the radiator so he is not happy. It had already turned into a more involved project than anticipated.
In Dory's agitated state, one thing she does is scatter dog food all over. She shoves her snout into it then flips it up. Gma can't tolerate the mess and wants to clean it up. Fusses at the dogs if they come eat the food that's on the floor while she's trying to pick it up. Tomorrow's a full day, then back to work. I was panicking about a deadline coming up but figured out Friday afternoon that it's something I already did. Whew!
Hubs brought the dog back in and she's scratching at my bedroom door. Guess I'd better go out there.
Not much going on here. Hubs is watching basketball. We went over to MIL's house to help her go through old pictures. Dh just sat there because he told her clearly more than once he didn't want any of them. I picked through some and pulled out some ones that we had given her over the years. I have copies of most of them, so may discard them later. I found some collected coins. Apparently, my deceased FIL started to collect quarters with the state insignia on them, and started 5 different sets. None of them are complete and not that old, so I popped them out and put them in MIL's coin jar. I did find some old mercury dimes that may have more than face value, so I will take them to a coin store and redeem them for her. Then we came home, and I did a little pruning in the garden, came in and got sucked into a jigsaw puzzle.
Yesterday I got good news about Angus's cardiac tests. They show some valve disease, but nothing severe enough to treat for now. And he is back to his perky, happy self. I guess the vet didn't appreciate me pointing out her clinic had poor communication skills, because she emailed me the results (said she couldn't get thru on my phone) and said she would send the complete report so that I could take them to a clinic more suitable.
going to cook up some burgers for dinner and then look for a movie on one of the streaming services.
g'Night
Ado, For Dory--have you tried Rescue Remedy for animals? A good healthy squirt into Ozzie's mouth and he did calm down some after a few minutes, and then take a nap. He used to get the jitterbugs really bad, especially during thunderstorms, I thought he would shiver right out of his skin.
j22, Glad to hear Angus is perked up now.
It's 1 AM, I really should lie down now. Wonder what the song in my head will be when I wake up?

Tweety in that situation the anxiety is undestandable
Ado that's pretty remarkable that he survived
NJ22 I didn't even think to look for the lights but it was probably too cloudy here
Stars hope the pain eases up
Work was better yesterday, still decided to stay a little late but the rest of the day was pretty good. Talked with the supervisor about a complicated case, came up with a solution which will hopefully get things resolved. Next week looks less busy, but a coworker is out all week so we'll see
J was too tired to go out last night, apparently he didn't sleep much. Probably excitement over being done with his IV antibiotics and getting his PICC line removed. We'll meet Sunday instead
Not meeting dad for lunch today, he found out last minute his cousin's funeral is today
I'll go out and do birdwatching as usual, get my hair cut, bake some cornbread and make amaretto
Svengoolie has Werewolf of London which I've seen before but is pretty good
Will be in the low 40s today, rain later on
