SATA on NCLEX RN

While i know we can't post inclex questions, id like to hear from someone who recently took the NCLEX RN in regrads to SATA: 1) did you feel the questions were "entry level nursing questions"?2) did you feel like they were s/s? 3) has anyone gotten a bunch of them and failed? Kaplan say's if you get a bunch, not to worry cause your doing well. Then some people are getting them so early in the exam that it doesn't seem like an accurate theory(Kaplan).

I took NCLEX last Thurs & passed with 75q. I had probably 30 SATA, no exaggerating. Some were knowledge based like s/s, but I did not feel they were entry level. My first 3 q were SATA so not sure on Kaplans theory.

I'm like Parker, nearly 1/2 my NCLEX questions were SATA. They were not entry level and encompassed everything you could think of. some of the answers were pictures so you had to not only know the names of tests but what they looked like doing them

Passed in 75 q in under an hour and got less than 8 SATA questions. Do not freak out if you aren't getting tons of SATA. Every testing experience is different.

Yeah like @krisiepoo I got like 30 SATA but they were not super difficult. In fact most of my exam was alternate type questions.

Did you feel that the SATA questions on the practice exams were of the same level of difficulty as the NCLEX ?

I think it's hard to gauge difficulty. I think you have to learn how to answer them, if that makes sense

@krisiepoo : I know I must seem obsessed but these SATA make me feel like I need to know every single thing about nursing to sit for the nclex and I know that's impossible ! I guess my anxiety level is at an all time high!

SATA questions tend to be about infection control or reduction of risk. Drag and drop are usually processes or skills. Personally I felt like Kaplans SATA were more difficult than NCLEX. After finishing in 75Q, I personally think critical thinking and knowledge of prioritization and expected outcomes were key. You cant know everything.

I passed the Nclex last week with 75 questions, and had about 20 to 25 SATA. Some were easy and some were hard. You can't know it all, but as long as you know some of them, you are good :-) good luck!!

Ding-ding-ding, we have a winner! :flwrhrts:

Memorization is what everyone seems to want to do, but it's understanding process and the whys and wherefores that win the day.

Thanks slinkyheadrn! I feel very confident about the nclex it's just most if the SATA I've been doing seem to be about everything besides those that you've mentioned , so I've been basically trying to cover every single disease, test, procedure ever known to nursing because that's the only way to ease my anxiety. I've done extremely well in school I got a 99% on ATI exam 2010&2013 editions. I've never gotten less than a 74% on any nclex practice exam I've ever done and those are raw scores like just trying to see where I land but weakest area is always SATA. I've been an lpn for 9 years I'm very knowledgable in most areas so I've been just trying to master my weakest area before my test!
