Santa Barbara is a beautiful, mid-sized city by the sea and, currently, the most expensive housing/rental market in America.

I know it is very spendy....I am hoping someone out there may have stayed at a nice apartment/condo.

My step dad lives in a really nice apartment only a few blocks away from State street. It's 900 something Castillo Road. It's actually a studio that he lives in & is pretty small! I think he pays around $1,000/mo for it. I wish SB wasn't so expensive otherwise I'd move there. I think it's the most beautiful town I've been to stateside.

Is there a bad part of SB?? There is a UC there and some pretty wild student areas to stay away from. You may want to look into renting a room in a home--there are many beautiful large homes and guest homes--just a thought. You will enjoy your stay, but I think one of the reasons they have so many travelers is that people can't live there in a nurse's salary!

Yes, that's how SB weeds out the "poor" (by holding very expensive living arrangements):bluecry1: . But it is a wonderful little place to visit on a weekend, check out the art market by the beach, and then you can drive up the pass and visit beautiful Solvang and get a little taste of Europe!:)

If you already havent made the move to Santa Barbara I do know of an apartment that I used to live at while little and my grandmother has lived there for over 14 years. Here is a link http://www.goldcoastmanagement.com/rivierahills.asp

As far as prices go I have no info for you. The location however is wonderful. The apartments are located close to Cottage Hospital,(that was where I was born). Also about 5 minutes away from state st. If I remember right all you have to do is drive right down Anapamu and it takes you to The court house, (thats where I was married at). If you find that Santa Barbara is too expensive why not try Goleta. I lived there for about 6 years. I wish you luck in your move. I sure do wish I could live there. But as we all know its just so dang expensive. :) Oh yeah the city that JaneyW was speaking about is Isla Vista(IV) home to UCSB. Now that is not an area to live in. Hoepfully this reply helped you out.

OPPS my mistake.:uhoh21: The appartments are called Villa Flores located on E. Anapamu. Sorry about that.
