San Joaquin Delta ADN Spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Anyone who is applying for the Spring 2015 ADN program at San Joaquin Delta College care to share info with one another? A thread hasn't started yet and the application is set to be opening on September 2. Does anyone know the point range cutoff from last semester? I hope this is the last application I have to submit... Good luck to everyone!!!

Please keep us posted of their response

I don't think they they take into consideration how many times you've applied. They usually state so if they do when it discusses how they choose applicants at the bottom of the application. I will keep everyone posted on their response!

they should consider it. its not fair to the people who have been applying several times. I applied to ARC as well and the rep their told me the 6th and 7th time applicants are getting in first so applying is pointless. I still did lol

I heard ARC discontinued special consideration of those who applied multiple times after a semester or two ago. At least that's what it said when I applied and got accepted to their program last semester (first time applicant). I ending up giving up my spot. I applied this semester as well.

Random question... I dont see any requirements regarding this, but my documents have different last names on them. The application has a spot to list other names, but do you think I should include copies of the documents showing my legal name changes (there have been a few)? For example, I am using my high school transcript for the second language documentation, which uses my maiden name. I have a different name on my military documents, too, that is not my current last name. Plus, my current legal name, the one I used to register at Delta, and that is on some of my tramscripts, has an apostrophe but my social security card and drivers license do not. Should I include a short letter of explanation with my documents? DMV computers, etc, do not accept that character despite the apostrophe being part of my legal name. It is always a hassle when I get papers notarized or sign other legal documents. Maybe I should have married a Smith or Jones or Wu? Apostrophes, ack!!!

Hi all, applying for Spring. I will submit my application this week. They do not give any consideration to past applicants as it is entirely merit based except for 10% of the spots. They are sticklers for filling out the application correctly, but will answer questions if you call or email. Is anyone applying anywhere else? I'm applying to CSU Stanislaus as well.

I think you are good if you can list all other names on the application, but it probably would not hurt if you are concerned that they will miss it.

Hey everyone delta emailed me back, this is what they said:

1. A copy of your current EMT card is sufficient.

2. Course descriptions need to be submitted for all prerequisite courses taken at other colleges. The course descriptions are in the particular college's online catalog for the specific year when you took the courses. So, you are supposed to send copies of the course descriptions from the catalog by printing the page/s. If the page with the course descriptions did not have the academic year, you are supposed to also include a copy of the front page of the catalog.

3. The work letter sounds sufficient, be sure it covers the correct dates.

4. Your official transcripts should state that you were awarded a degree.

Hi hopefuls, I am currently a fourth semester Delta ADN student. I'll be graduating in December. I was a huge user of allnurses when I was freaking out and trying to get in. For those of you with weird circumstances related to names and what have you, just submit everything you have with documentation, such as proof of marriage that called for the name change, with proof, and just write a statement about why the names are different. For EMT certification if you were a national registry EMT, just providing a copy of that cert will be sufficient. I don't believe my social security card was ever signed, and I find that odd that people were rejected for such a thing... Seems like maybe it was a bit more but people didn't disclose the entirety of the situation. And for AMERIKANGIRL, it has nothing to do with how many times you apply. Delta is based on merit only, meaning your past history (degrees and experience), GPA and TEAS score get you in. There is a 10% group that is elected to lottery, and that is pure chance. There are 40 accepted, so 4 will be by lottery. Good luck to you all!!! If you have any questions post, I know I loved hearing info when I was anxiously and desperately waiting.

And by the way.... Don't freak out so much. They're not as bad as this thread is making them sound. The health sciences office is not out to get you. If you withhold stuff like W's when it specifically says on the app not to withhold any grades (because W's can decrease your points), or you don't list the first grades you received, you will be denied. But things like apostrophes are not going to get you kicked off. Just relax :D good luck!!

Thanks for the info. I don't think people who have been applying for years should be put with first time applicants. The system is flawed. I've maintained a 3.7 GPA, worked full time and had five kids at home. I didn't score well on the TEAS and that some how sums me up. I'm hoping I will be in the lottery.

You can always retake the teas. Personally I scored a 92 my first time but studied for 3-5 hours every day for a month. You have to allow yourself plenty of time to study but I can see how that would be difficult with children.
