  1. There were two dates earlier but im using the uworld app and I want to try to get through all of the questions before I test and the other dates through February only had 0800 or 1400 test times and I have to commute so I really wanted a 1200 test time so I would be awake get enough sleep but not be in afternoon nap mode :). I've read on previous discussions that uworld helped a lot of people pass and that the nclex was easier than the questions you get on uworld. Many of my classmates think I'm crazy for scheduling such an early date but I just want to get it over with and behind me!
  2. I got my ATT today and scheduled my NCLEX for feb 3rd
  3. Update Everyone in my class that applied for one just received our interim permits today! Hopefully that means our ATT is on it's way via US mail:) you can check the status of that and your RN license by checking your breeze account!
  4. Still haven't received it one girl in my class said she got a letter a few weeks ago saying she wasn't approved yet because the school hadn't sent the transcripts in but no one else has heard anything. I logged into my breeze account just to make sure it wasn't updated because I applied for my interim permit also and it still says pending on everything:/ Knowing your school sent yours in a week before ours gives me hope though :) Anyday now hopefully, I guess we should enjoy this break while we can. One of my good friends who's been working a year now (first float pool then RICU) told me being a new grad is tough and you have a lot of bad days in the beginning but use them to learn and grow and not to take things personally.
  5. Do not do the PVT! One of my coworkers who took the NCLEX last January told me he talked to the people at Pearson vue regarding this and they said it can still take your money even if you passed and you will not get refunded! Just relax after all that hard work celebrate and have a glass a wine unfortunately worrying will not sway your results :/ good luck everyone!
  6. Hello all, i know now many of us have just graduating and are applying for jobs and anxiously awaiting the BRN to send us our ATT so we can take the mystical NCLEX. I thought it would be nice to have a post our timelines, if we have accepted our first job yet and where you will be working as a new grad, how you are studying for the NCLEX, when you submitted your application to the BRN, when your school sent in your transcripts, when you received your ATT, and when you finally took the NCLEX how many questions you had and any advice you'd give to those who haven't taken it yet:) I'll start off the conversation: BRN application sent in: December 5th RN grad date: 12/16/16 First RN job:Surgical ICU (very anxious) transcripts roster sent in: 1/11/16 ATT: not received yet (BRN updates processing dates every Monday but the dates haven't changed in a few weeks probably due to the holidays) Studying for NCLEX: 4 day in class Kaplan review (wasn't a huge fan, but instructor was nice and it did help a little), Uworld (awesome app, great rationales that help you review content as you test), NCLEX mastery (rationales are decent), misc NCLEX books to answer as many questions as I can (Saunders, Kaplan content review, ATI content review) Saunders is awesome because it has online question banks with a few thousand questions.
  7. I am starting out as a new grad in SICU and asked one of our surgeons which books they recommended for this unit. The ICU book by Marino is a great staple for working in the ICU and the other is perioperatove care of cardiac surgery. Hope this helps. Oh many of the nurses in my unit also have the fast facts for Critical Care book it's good for reference but it is too detailed to read to gain a good understanding of rationales. I also use the up to date app many of the physicians use this to stay updated on current guidelines as well.
  8. My cousin got into csu riverside with a 3.3 so that is not true. With many of the csu schools you can actually look up there stats and it will tell you the avg gpa that was accepted into the program and teas etc. don't give up. Going out of state is ridiculously expensive, there are many community colleges in ca that do not go by lottery and that you could easily get into with your stats. I also know that chico state, Bakersfield, and Fresno state are a little easier to get into ( not sure if you tried these schools). Good luck to you! Knowledge is power.
  9. Honestly from one nursing student to another, once you start nursing school you will be so overwhelmed with reading/assignments that you will not have any extra time to look up videos. I'm not saying this to scare you, I just want you to have a good idea of what to expect as I was in your shoes a semester ago. I would recommend simple nursing if anything but to give you an idea, in my first semester we would get assigned 15 chapters of reading a week had 4 different textbooks for a 9 wk class, had online videos and quizzes we had to take before lectures and skills labs and had exams every other week. On top of all the time you spend in clinical and lecture it gets overwhelming. My best advice it to get your text books as early as you can and get a head start on some of the essentials like patient safety, assessments, hygiene, and mobility stuff. That's pretty much what you cover in the beginning before medsurg. Hope this helps and good luck on your nursing journey:)! Knowledge is power.
  10. I found a way to make our group visible to everyone I created a custom web address it's https://www.facebook.com/groups/SJDCADNFALL2016/ Knowledge is power.
  11. Did you get the acceptance in your regular email or nursing CAS or chico student portal? Knowledge is power.
  12. I sent you an dad to the group! If you have anyone's info I'm the class who's not on it yet feel free to invite them! I want to add everyone before I change it to a closed group Knowledge is power.
  13. Btw I'm not sure if my messages are going out on here but we have established a Facebook group for everyone in our class so we can discuss school related stuff/communicate. People are having trouble finding it so I'm just having everyone add me to FB then once I get their request I add them to the group manually. If you'd like me to add you to the group search tiffany Marie glenn and it's the one from Sacramento with the cover photo of fall leaves:) oh and make sure you guys fill out the survey on the website surveymonkey we got at orientation if you would like a mentor! Knowledge is power.
  14. Clinical instructor Kay for 001L and then Aragon for 002L and yes I signed up for the second section it was the codes for the kaiser Modesto then when you went to sign up it changes to TBA under location. Knowledge is power.
  15. The graduation date is December 2016 and those last documents are part of the forms that were in the student info packet we don't go over those until the first few weeks of class then we sign those and upload those! Knowledge is power.
