  1. @nu rn I was doing 2-10 shifts when I set up my clssses then one week before school I had to change jobs abruptly and it was nights or nothing. I'll have to wait for someone to leave days before I can switch.
  2. Thank you but I could cry, I have done everything you have listed to no effect. I havr enen done hot baths with epdon salts and that lavender baby bath that's supposed to help you sleep. I have hops stuffed in my pillow as well. All I do is lie there praying to god for a workplace accident that give me a 2/3 pay vacation. I givr up on natural. I need drugs.
  3. I'm in my 4th week of night shift. I work 11p-7a 5 nights a week and have classes 8-1230 4 days a week so I need to pass out as soon as I get home from school. I don't. I've given up on natural, how do I get some f*****g sleep!! Don't assume I'm joking about the hammer.. For the last few days I've resorted to a double dose of valerian, melatonin and 5htp with unisom washed down with a few light beers and old klonapin that expired a year ago. Don't laugh, it works.. I've slept but its not a good long term solution and I'm stuck with this shift for awhile. Any suggestions?
  4. I'm in, but thanks to my daughters head gasket exploding last week i'm officialy broke Excuse me while I go fetal..
  5. I was told by someone who "should" be in the know that's why I said "fairly" reliable but they could have been misinformed. Fun huh?
  6. I heard yesterday from a fairly reliable source that acceptance/denial letters would be going out by the end of this week. Good luck!
  7. Thank you! I'm not too worried about test taking ( I got through LVN) but I'm wondering how much writing matters, I'm dyslexic and struggle more than a bit to crank out college level essays. Also, (pretty please) are the teachers friendly to students taping lectures? My DSS accommodations allow it but if I'm the only one I know I'll be getting funny looks from the other students so I probably won't which will (deleted obscenity) kill my grades or at the very least, kick them really hard in the peri-area. Again, many thanks..
  8. After you're accepted? After you've actually enrolled? What if you can't enroll till you've got the money? I "had" some money saved back and a few credit cards just waiting to be whipped out and used in case of any last-minute emergency spending orgies..... but, My daughters head-gasket decided to blow and, it's gone,, I'm sorta out of ideas, it's either gofundme.com or selling my white-ish size 9 fruit-of-the-loom granny panties on craigslist, Either way I don't see myself making a lot of $$, Loans it is! but when do I start the begging? Anyone need a kidney?
  9. I had a pt. call me a thick-as-s**t, butter-faced c**t and a double-bagger. A co-worker was nice enough to explain the insults and I got on with my day. I worked as a telemarketer for years so I am very hard to offend.
  10. I work in home health and except for one case, we always count the narcotics at the start and end of each shift. I do know of a nurse who took the pts. med instead of administering it but the PCG found her drooling and tripping over things so..... she go bye-bye
  11. @ clueless91 Thank you, I know how hellish it's going to be. I did an LVN program where if you couldn't teach yourself you were (deleted obcenity). Out of 64 people who started only 15 graduated and of those only 40% passed the NCLEX first time around. I've got three months before school starts so I'm using them to my advantage and compiling my vid list before test panic time. I know meds (memorization, not administration or calculation) are a weak spot for me so I've already started on those. btw, I LOVE empoweRN videos on meds. I do appreciate the warning though, I'm sure there will be more than one night that sees me fetal on the bathroom floor crying into a towel so I don't scare my son.. I just keep reminding myself that all the studies show schooling in our "mature" years is good for us (she quietly chants while weeping into her third bowl of ice cream)
  12. Thank you for these great suggestions! I'm currently downloading a batch to put on my tablet for work.
  13. Hi, I'm looking at entering a nursing program this fall if my stars align and stop playing whack-a-mole with my life. I discovered while preparing for my TEAS V exam that I remembered more if I watched a youtube vidoe on a subject before and after reading about it. I read well but some things are just hard to picture in your head without a little help. Example: photosynthesis or meiosis. I assume others have discovered this as well.. Sometimes I had to dig through a lot of noble attempts at education to find a video that was accurate and on point. Those usually lead to channels and playlists of pure gold. Now that my TEAS V nightmare is over I want to start compiling videos that will help with the actual nursing classes. Any help?
  14. That's okay, I know I come off as a panicky mess at times it's just not doing RN is not an option and the closer I get the more I expect disaster. I deal with stress by making lists and plans but I can't do that till I have more info so I'm going nuts. Once classes start ill be good.
  15. I just need a list of the books I'll need to start off and I guarantee I will find used and pdfs. There are work arounds for codes. Most of the time publishers will sell them separately and cheaper to folk who already own the book. I should mention I was a used book dealer for years before I became an lvn so I know a few tricks and have a few sources others don't. That's why I bwahaha'd. I've already got a line on the Taylor book 4th ediyion new with code for half retail. What I'm wondering is if we can buy used scrubs from graduating students? I did for lvn. As long as they're still decent of course.
