San Jacinto Fall 2019

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello Everyone!

I hope someone could help if they have any information regarding the San Jacinto nursing program. For some odd reason both campuses have not posted deadline dates for Spring 2019. A few months back I contacted the North campus. I've noticed they only have a spring entrance if they have enough clinical space. Central campus always has both entrances. I remember I was told by Mid June or July they would post. Well nothing yet but what I find odd is that central campus has not chose all Fall candidates. Fall semester starts next month! I'm so confused if anyone has any information I would appreciate it.

Well I have checked other posts from past semesters and I feel like it just depends on how many people are applying. I think 20+ points would get you in but I have seen people on other posts saying that they got in only with 18 points and then others with 18 points getting selected as alternates. I haven’t seen anyone with less than 18 points get in but not everyone posts their score on this website.

Thankyou! How are the professors? Is class everyday? Is the program as hard as people say it is?

The hardest part for me is learning to rearrange my thinking. It's a completely different culture and language. All professors have been professional and really want to prepare you for real world.

Spring and Fall are set up in two eight week courses and summer is both sessions. For us we had two classes first 8 weeks; 1 class and 1 clinical day second 8 weeks; summer is two classes and 1 clinical; and I think the rest is class/clinical each 8 week section.

You have AM or PM class and you take what is assigned and clinical is whatever day and hospital they assign you. I had AM class on Monday and Wednesday and PM class Tuesday-Friday. There is independent work in the skills lab and you need X amount of hours to check off on skills.

This 8 weeks class is either AM or PM T/Th and clinical day one set day a week.

They said summer is typically Monday and Tuesday all day (2 classes) plus a clinical day.

Thanks so much for your reply! Do you know how many points that people got accepted into ADN at San Jacinto Central have?

Max is 27 and I had 21 with micro in progress. I was accepted and had to turn in transcript with passing grade before first day of class.

Our cohort is around 100 people and that includes new students and students who are re-entering the program.

Thank you so much for your information! I just want to make sure that I got this right! So your score is 21 without Micro( in progress) right? And when was you apply for San Jac? I currently have 23 with all the pre-course done, but I’m afraid of my Hesi exam was 88, I’ll retake it to bring it up.

Correct. 21 without micro. If you added micro it would have been 24.

You can retake portions of HESI. You know on the test they have the main screen and you click on the subject to bring up test - just click what you want to take. If you have 100 in math and reading comprehension there is no need to take those again.

You can submit 2 exams.

Thanks so much once again ❤️

Has anyone gotten letters back yet?? I’ve been waiting on them to send an email and nothing yet.

Hey guys, I am a Level 3 nursing student at the north campus. Feel free to ask me any questions; I will do my best to answer them. Good luck to you all!

Hello @IAmNurseMel

im applying to the San Jac north program for fall 2020 and I wanted to know if you could tell me how the program is.

what days and times are clinicals? How is the Lay out of the program? Is the program 4 straight semesters? What was the lowest rubric score accepted when you applied?
thank you so much for sharing.

Hey @Beebee10 the program itself is not hard; it’s the lack of resources, disorganization, and inconsistency that makes it frustrating. The program is designed to weed people out, so be careful. Clinical days and times vary depending on who your clinical instructor is. Some instructors will have you there at 6:30 and let you leave at 3:30. However some will make you stay damn near the whole 12 hours. The program is 4 1/2 semesters; Fall, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Summer again.

8 week sessions are very fast paced and there are not many assignments to make up your overall grade. You’ll have 3 exams, a final, and a Hesi exam to compute your grade for the course. One exam can make or break you! First term, you typically are in class 4-5 days a week. After that, you’re in class twice a week and one clinical day. I had a rubric score of 18 and I was called off the alternate list. I’m not sure what lowest score was for acceptance; I’m guessing a 22 or higher will secure your spot. Good luck, you’re going to need it at that school.

@Beebee10 Oh no! I wasn’t trying to make you nervous; I just wanted to be completely candid with you. Unfortunately I didn’t make it through the program because I was working full-time and a mom full-time to three little ones. But yeah it was my pleasure to answer your questions.
