Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program? Also, when applying will you be using option A, B or both? Lets talk about it here. :redbeathe
Wow there's a lot of questions flying around. About the shoes, you are supposed to have all white leather shoes for clinical but after your first semster they dont even notice if theres mesh on them but you wouldnt want to have mesh trust me. As far as on campus goes they dont really care even though they say they do. I've worn all different kinds of shoes to campus although I wouldnt get all crazy with designs and colors. You will see after the first 2 weeks that things like shoes, ID badges and the jackets you are supposed to wear all kind of become petty things. As far as a rolling backpack...I have one....used it twice...need I say more. After the 1st semester it is not really necessary to bring all those books up to campus since in Med Surg 1 2 and 3 you use the same book. All of the books you have are for clinical mostly and you dont have to brind those to the school. Unless you are someone who likes to drag a book all the way up to school I wouldnt worry about it, since in Med Surg one they say dont even focus on the book. I just started reading the text books a lot and I'm half way done with Med Surg 3. It depends on the person though. Just brind a notebook for orientation cuz they will just tell you what you can do and what you cant do the whole day. Its really boring. You must have your immunizations and CPR card though. Most teachers will let you record them but there are some that do not want you to so just ask their permission. If you have a stethoscope go ahead and use that one or buy one outside of the program cuz they charge an arm and a leg with the lab pack. You will see its like 400 + dollars for all the supplies and uniforms. Littmann is the best brand I have heard of so far, and I got the littmann lightweight and I do not like it very much. Hope this helps!
I found a guy who will come to your house or desired location and CPR certify you. (AHA for Healthcare providers)
where can I get CPR certified in houston? - Google Maps
(Click on "CPR CLASSES" (A) and hit "more info" when the box comes up and it will go to their page.)
His answering machine said they have scheduled classes at 9AM on Saturdays. (At his house, I'm assuming, which is waaay on the other side of Houston.) I think I might call and see if he would do a class if I could reserve a room at the public library or community center. Would anyone else be interested? Let me know!
The recording says the price is $50 for the Saturday classes. Not sure if the price is higher when he comes out on location. Even if they are, there's a good chance it's cheaper than the $85 san jac wants. I left a message for him to call me back so I could set up an appointment. :)
@jil...
Just like jrivet said..please make sure he is certified..dont fall into troubles because of that.
I think baystarEMS does the same thing too. I think need a certain amount of students in the class. Iam have no knowledge about anything else. I had emailed them once...but did not get a reply.
Lets see.
it says on his recording that he is certified to do AHA CPR for the healthcare provider, however he hasn't called me back yet. Oh well, if he doesn't call back I guess it could be for the better. I'd hate to get scammed. I really just don't want to pay $85 when I could have gotten it for free in high school!

Does anyone know how many days a week will the evening/hybrid students have to report to campus?
Thanks!
