Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program? Also, when applying will you be using option A, B or both? Lets talk about it here. :redbeathe

Hey I got accepted !!!!! I got my letter last night on thursday at 8:16pm

wow congrats to everyone it's nice to see most of us with good news, and for those still waiting don't loose hope!!!:lol2::lol2::yeah:

Keldorn: I heard they are 80 spots and 20 for hybrid. I heard it was over 500 applicants. This was from someone already in the RN program.

Wow, 20 for hybrid...I'm so Blessed to be one of those!!!!

Hey I recieved my notification via email and have been accepted!!! Does anyone know anything about the all the shots that are required? It seems like a lot of shots to get done by Aug 23, does anyone know how that works? Will I be able to get all of my shots at once or will I have to return several times? (I know the Hepatitis must be taken over several months though)

Thanks a lot :)

Yes, I would start ASAP...I did! There is a list of immunization on this thread.

I need the 2nd series of Twinrix & Varcella which I will get in 4 weeks!

Congrats to everyone!! :)

As said before if you're still waiting don't lose hope!!

Has anyone been able to get the forms off of blackboard? I tried last night but didn't see it, and blackboard is having an outage right now.

I'm at the doctors office and I just got the first set of shots. Also got a physical and waiting for my blood to be drawn. I have never been so excited to be at the doctors office. :-)

Congratulations to all those who got accepted. I am a current student in the ADN program from last semester. To all those who are still waiting, last semester they were sending out acceptance emails days before orientation, so dont worry. The reason for that is because you have to accept the invitation to the program, and those that dont reply or decline, then the people next in line get the letter.

Also, a BIG FYI, if you can choose between the hybrid or regular course, or if your given the option, take the regular if you can. I asked one of the faculty and they said that the last time the hybrid was offered, 60 students were admitted, and 5 graduated. I am not saying that you cant do it, but why make it harder than it already is on yourself.

If any of you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask me. Also, get ready to study like you never have before lol.

To mkhoaja,

Thanks for the support and comfort. Couldnt have felt better! Hope your classes are going well.

Why does the hybrid program have such a huge failure rate? Isn't it the same amount of work as the day program? I know that when you take any hybrid courses you must be a self-motivator, proactive, well organized, & ready to study in a timely manner (no procrastinating)....I guess students began to start slacking bc there is no one enforcing their assignments, studying, exams, etc!!! Or do they basically just throw you to the wolves...I really don't know what to expect!!! Please elaborate if you have some insight.

I applied to the hybrid and was accepted!!! I hope that all goes well for those of us in the hybrid program...we need to get together and form a plan...ie. study sessions, skills reviews, etc.

Thanks for the info. that you have provided!!!

I dont really know why the hybrid program has a big failure rate, but if anything, there are only 20 students being accepted instead of 60, so there will probably be more help available i guess. From what I heard, the hybrid is pretty much self teaching, and the only time you learn in a classroom setting is just for skills, like IV, catheters, etc.

Again, please dont think that I am discouraging anyone to take it. I am just saying that if you have a choice, choose the classroom setting. And to be perfectly honest, I find that I teach myself alot of the material sometimes. I find that I am more disciplined though when I have to attend class. Having said all that, I am taking a hybrid pharmacology class right now, and I gotta say that I am loving it! lol talk about a double standard! Hope this helps a bit.

To alluring squre: No problem. I remember when I was checking these same boards for any news last year, so I know what your going through.

Good luck to all!

Congrats to everyone that got in I know how exciting it is to receive that letter. I'd have to say don't worry about taking hybrid because the whole first semester of nursing school is basic learning and you end up teaching yourself anyway. Most of the teachers put up notes online and just study them, thats what I did. Going to class to me is just for signing the roll sometimes because I don't soak the information in until I study. I took the hybrid pharm, its a lot easier but I can say from experience you will not learn as much as the traditional pharmacology class if its the same class I took. I signed up for Pedi OB hyrbid for next semester and I am not worried about it at all. Once you know how to take the exams and get used to learning the information you pretty much start teaching yourself everything anyway. It just depends on how you learn.

Thank you for your input

Where is the History & Physical form?

Any input or caution about the physical....
