San Jac Central ADN Fall 2017

Published

Hey everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for those who plan on applying to San Jac Central's ADN Program for Fall 2017. I know applications aren't being accepted yet, hopefully they'll post dates soon, it says "to be announced" on one protion of the website, and then it says Feb 2-April 2 on another portion.

As for me, I'm eager and ready, done with all prereqs and my Hesi. Here are my scores:

Comp I: C (Failed it years ago and retook recently and made an A)

Psychology: A

AP1: B

AP2: A

Micro: B

Overall GPA 3.22

Hesi A2 Exam: 89.6% overall, planning to retake the exam to see if I can do even better.

How did everyone do? Best of luck, hopefully we will be studying together come August!

I also plan to apply to Alvin but doubt I'll get in because they are so selective.

Hey there! I just received an acceptance letter from the Central campus!!!!! I am extremely happy right now! I wish you all Good Luck, and I'll see you all soon in class!

Just got my acceptance letter!!!! So excited. So do we need to have the money for uniforms on Monday??? The paper says we're required to purchase them at orientation.... does anyone know

Yes! I'm nervous about that part- especially after finding out that being in the nursing program is not considered being a full time student a far as FAFSA is concerned so I will not receive my full granted financial aid award for nursing school! Very stressful. :(

I got accepted!!! Congrats everyone!

Hey!!! I noticed you were accepted to HCC as well like me!!! Way to go!!! Do you know where you?re going?

I'm going up there tomorrow.

Is anyone else confused by the part of the acceptance letter that discusses what we must bring to orientation? It says that along with any updated vaccines, we must bring our completed physical exam paperwork, but then just below that, it says that the physical must be done between July 1st and Aug.24 This is contradictory...

We must also bring BON/Fast Pass paperwork to the orientation and it states that we will be receiving an email from one or the other and must follow certain steps (which look to be complicated on the Fast Pass attachment). Has anyone received these mentioned emails from either the BON or Fast Pass?

Yes it is a bet confusing. The BON or Fast Pass code does not even work. I am going to call the Central campus to get more information. I'll keep you all posted. As for the uniforms; I started to add up everything I think I need, and I am looking at over $500. I didn't even include the white scrub jacket or the fleece jacket. I figure these two items could wait until we officially start school. I plan on purchasing 2 of the classroom scrub sets and 2 of the clinical scrub sets. However, I am unsure if this is too much. Does anyone know if they make it mandatory that you purchase everything on the list at one time? Or we able to go back and purchase more items at a later time?

Hi Midtown_futurebsn. I sent the admin for the first half of the alphabet (Ms. R) an email about the Fast Pass yesterday. She said to try again at the of the week and if it doesn't work by the 24th to let her know and she would check on it.

Thanks for checking on the fast pass. Mine hasn't been working either. I had to call to get the right code. I also emailed about the physical since they contradict themselves in the acceptance letter. I like how they make a point of saying that we need to make sure we have everything and to pay attention to detail because nurses must pay attention to detail. I think whoever wrote that letter needs to pay a little more attention to detail....

Yes, so, I understood that the physical is due within the 6 weeks prior to the first day of class. They probably want it to be as recent as possible. The letter says that our names were submitted to the BON and that we should receive either an outcome letter or a blue card. I haven't received anything yet but maybe it'll come in in the next 4 four days. I didn't understand if based on what we receive if we still need to do the IdentoGo. I'm trying not to stress about it to much and probably will just wait for orientation on Monday to get clarifications. Still be sure to take copies of your driver's license, insurance card, social security card, a passport size pic and take immunization records and titer results just in case.

YES! It was the PhD nurse who runs the entire nursing program that sent us/wrote that email. Based on its contents, I am not feeling particularly confident in the organization of this program. I want to be positive but I'm also a realist. :) The #1 complaint I've heard from San Jac ADN students is the disorganization of the staff and program in general. That email is disjointed and contradicts itself in several places. The explanation of the BON/Fast Pass requirements are confusing to say the least. I just expected a more cohesive admission email from the head of the program I guess, especially when she opens with "pay attention to detail".

Whew, ok-rant over! :) Staying positive and remembering that we will at least have a great group of supportive peers to hold each other up

over the next 2 years!
