Hi everyone! I noticed there wasn't a specific thread for SFSU's nursing application process for their upcoming Fall 2016 semester. Please feel free to post information, questions, your stats, etc. relevant to their Fall 2016 nursing program here if you're applying!!
I wish SFSU was more transparent about accepting only 20 students for this enrollment. I wouldn't have applied had I known because they filter through 600-800 applications. My applications weren't cheap, and with the the odds against me at 20/600-800, I would have chosen another "safety" school.
Melankie,
Congrats on getting in!! You're the only one on the entire forum!
If you already have a B.S., why aren't you doing a second BSN program? I'd look into it, because they're usually only two semesters long. Check out Sac State's 2nd BSN program. It could shave off a year for you. Sac State is my "hopeful" school, so I might be biased
do they tell you how far on the waitlist you are?
No, it doesn't say the total number on the wait list either. It only says to keep April 28th open for potential interviews. We will be notified May 15th if space is available, and if we aren't contacted by August 12th, we should consider our application closed.
The letter explained that this was a very competitive enrollment. Anyone that was denied/wait listed, if this is your top school, the one you really want, just apply again in August! Taking a semester off doesn't sound too bad me
I am waitlisted and received an interview on April 28th. Can anyone who previously interviewed on March 31st comment as to the format of the interview and any helpful tips? The email I received said it would last about 15 minutes, so I'm assuming it's just one student at a time then..it can't be group style, right? That seems much too short for a group interview. If you are comfortable sharing examples of questions you were asked, that would be helpful too!

Some things I also considered (and am still considering as a part-time job) are scribe (CEP America or Scribe America) or CNA (thinking about enrolling in Contra Costa Nursing Academy's CNA program this summer)
If anyone has any insight/advice about SFSU's nursing school I would like to hear about it. I was able to see their admissions office when I went in for my interview, but I didn't get a chance to explore the labs, simulations, or classrooms.
I'm also form the Richmond area so I would most likely be commuting to school/clinicals on a daily basis.
I would love to hear feedback from anyone that has gone through their program before:)
And has anyone started a FB page for the fall 2016 cohort?
Best of luck to all. Nursing is a journey of growth, progress, improvement, and learning. Let's continue to stay bold and positive!
