San Franscisco State (SFSU) Nursing BSN Fall 2016 Applications

Published

Hi everyone! I noticed there wasn't a specific thread for SFSU's nursing application process for their upcoming Fall 2016 semester. Please feel free to post information, questions, your stats, etc. relevant to their Fall 2016 nursing program here if you're applying!!

I'm so bummed :( I wonder why it's so different this application period.

my friend said that sfsu has a low nclex pass so they may be focused on teas more? don't know if that's valid but I'm quite bummed as well :(

The more teas score, the more nclex passing rate. That makes sense. It gives lower GPA students opportunity to get into the program. That's why it's so competitive. You can take 3 times for your best TEAS score, but you can't take 2 or 3 times to improve your GPA. Even though their nclex passing rate is lower than other BSN or ADN schools, I believe their faculties are the best.

my friends that graduated from the BSN program at SF absolutely loved it. so I'm bummed I won't be able to experience it too :( but it makes sense why they would maybe be emphasizing teas more

To be honest, I don't expect to get into their program this fall for my ignorance of TEAS (2 wks preparation). I have to admit that. I received their notice email in Feb but no interview. If they don't choose me, it's their loss not mine because I have very strong learning capacity (how many people like me to finish prerequisites in a year with overall GPA3.92?). For me, time is everything. If I am accepted by any one of the schools that I applied for, no matter BSN or ADN, I'll go ahead. It's their honor. lol~ If no school accepts me, I'll have to start my last backup plan to retake TEAS to apply SFSU again.:dummy: of course, more BSN schools next time. Why sad? Why sad for not having an interview? why sad for not entering SFSU?(too early to say that) Just face it calmly. Let it be! If we're not accepted, it doesn't mean we're not smarter than those who get into SFSU. It means nothing. Interview is also not garantee you can get into their program (one of the current SFSU students told me).

My purpose is to become RN as soon as possible (no matter BSN or ADN-BSN). When you graduate from nursing school, your employer don't care which school you went, most of them care about if you're a qualified RN or having experience. That's it! Except you have elite school love knot, otherwise, no worth to hang on one tree. Hey, remember the saying "All Roads lead to Rome."

Anyway, good luck to all of us!!! RELAX-

were the interview emails sent to personal email? or sfsu email?

@MondanaDeVonne did you get your invite in your personal email or sfsu email?

good luck!! when I contacted them via email a lady named Susan said that not receiving an email "suggested" that we were not admitted so that's why I assumed SF was done picking :(
I was worried about that too, cause I didn't know for sure if getting an interview means you're at the top of the candidates that they're considering. But we shouldn't lose hope! LOL Last semester, they apparently didn't decide until later in April and some even beginning of May. :nailbiting: All we can really do is keep calm and wait for now.

Hi everyone! I also applied for BSN fall 2016. Didn't get any interview invite, so I guess this means I am out.

Overal GPA 3.83

Prereq GPA 4.0

Teas score is low - 80.3 (advanced)

No volunteer experience in the US for the moment of application. Wasn't sure what is considered multicultural experience, so put none.

Can someone, please elaborate on what is exactly counted as multicultural experience and whether it should be proven by any sort of official letters or other papers? Thanks!

I got denial letter saying that they only accepted for 20 spaces for Fall 2016.

I got a denial letter right now too!!! Still waiting for SJ í ½í¸í ½í¸ Crossing my fingers for everyone! Good luck guys!

I just received an email this morning saying I got accepted into SFSU's BSN nursing program.

I am more than overjoyed!

Does anyone know the tuition breakdown for the complete program? I found this: SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY - 2015-16 Academic Year Rates | Fee Rates | Student Fees | Budget | CSU. So if 1 year is about $7000, 2 years would be $14000.

And best of luck to everyone! :)
