San Francisco State University (SFSU) Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing (ELM) - Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I wanted to start a thread for SFSU ELMSN applicants for fall of 2024. I'm actually a current student who began the program in fall 2023 and wanted to provide a place to answer any questions applicants might have about the program. Our application cycle didn't have any connection to those further along in the program than us when we applied, which made it difficult to find information. So please reach out with any questions, concerns, or to connect with other applicants!

Hey! I'm also number 7... so I called back today and asked what was going on. The administrative staff I talked to said that it shouldn't be based on concentration but maybe this year will be different and could possibly be? Or that it's a system error...

She let me know that multiple students called about this so she's also a little confused and sent an email to figure out what's going on and should have a better idea by eod.

I feel like from what everyone is saying, maybe it is based on specialty? I'm hoping it's not because that just means it's even more competitive...

Thank you so much for inquiring. I fear that this year this program is even more competitive since UCSF did away with their master's entry program. I only applied to this program given that my husband's work is here in the Bay and so I can't move. I also didn't want to incur the debt of attending a private school. UC Davis has an accelerated master's that is 18 months long. If I don't get into this program I may consider applying to that one.

Anyways, good luck everyone. Un abrazo to all!

UCSF did away with their master's program before our group applied as well, many of us were hoping to go there. Just a heads up about Davis's accelerated master's program- it's crazy expensive, on par with a private school- like 120k+, and many people wind up having to take out like 200k in loans for it.

ugh, maybe that's why it had not been on my radar. these programs are sooo expensive!! gracias for the heads up.

they just called me back and said that the waitlist is based on concentration!

Okay 😕 that's a lot of waitlist for 20 spots

anyone know anyone that got accepted for peds and will be declining offer 😭😭

does anyone know of someone who got accepted to the program under the women's health concentration that will be declining the offer?

Best of luck to everyone on the waitlist! 😩

Hey all!

I also sent out an email last night and heard back today that the waitlist is based on concentration. I am #1 on the waitlist for public health/community health. Best of luck to everyone on the waitlist!

Hi,

We're both waitlisted for the same concentration, but I think you have a strong chance of getting in, especially since someone who was accepted into the public health concentration has already declined their offer. Meanwhile, I'm currently #2 on the waitlist, just behind you 😅

I believe y'all can get in. I know 2 people denied their offer. One person on waitlist denied it and one got admitted also denied the offer. 😀

Do you know what the 2 people chose as their specialty?

@RayKen00 if you can, let us know if you get an offer email from them this upcoming week! Thank you 🙂

So does that mean in total they have about 100 people on the waitlist...?
