Starting this thread for anyone applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN program Spring 2026 (Sacramento campus). If you wish to share your experiences and updates, please post here.
I applied early June when the deadline was July 1st
Application deadline was subsequently moved to July 15th sometime in mid-June
Few days ago it was moved out all the way to Nov 15th
I did attend one of the Sacramento on-campus orientation sessions in May and was told that prospective students might hear back end of July or August, but given the deadline push it seems unlikely now. I reached out to SMU but received a very non-committal and vague feedback on what to expect... basically "hurry up and wait" sort of response.

I got my acceptance email yesterday morning for the Sacramento campus but I'm really hoping I get accepted into the ELMSN CM program (haven't heard back regarding an interview yet).
Hi all, I heard back on Wednesday and got accepted to the ABSN program at the Sacramento location. Prior to hearing back, I emailed on Tuesday (not knowing I would hear back the next day) asking when we should anticipate to hear back. I was told between now and 3rd week of October. I got waitlisted for the Sacramento 2026 ABSN cohort. Anyone else get waitlisted? Does anyone know how we can find our ranking on the waitlist? I have emailed the school, but I'm not hopeful about hearing back.
I applied in early July. I received an email this Wednesday, Sept 17, that my application had been received and was under review. Today, Sept 19, I received an email letting me know I have been waitlisted.
I am a bit sad, because I have been waitlisted or rejected to all of the California programs I've applied to so far. I have been accepted to a MSN direct entry nurse practitioner program across the country, but would love to stay in state for affordability/family even if BSN or ADN is a slower route to my end goal.
Keep at it... lot's can happen in the next 3 months. I was talking with a current ABSN student and they were waitlisted until the week before the classes started last Spring. Good luck!
Congrats to those who got in, and to those who are waitlisted, keep on keeping on! Stay positive, you never know how things will play out and a waitlist is better than a denial!
For the admits, where is this checklist located? Where it lists all the requirements ie background check, drug test, immunizations, etc? I cannot find it anywhere!
Checklist is under the account that was created using your personal email, the one that was emailed originally confirming your admission from IT.
Thank you! I think that's the one that says SMURF in the URL. For some reason, a checklist is not showing up for me. Is there a specific tab it's located under in that portal?
