Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Program - Fall 2024

This is a thread for applicants who applied to Samuel Merritt for the ELMSN program for Fall 2024. 

Hi admitted CM students! I was also admitted, but I'm not too sure if I'm set on the program. Kinda just want to get my nursing license and proceed, rather than keep applying. Curious on your thoughts regarding the case management concentration?

For those admitted - has anyone received information about the mandatory orientation yet? I emailed about 2 weeks ago and they couldn't give me an exact date yet.

Not yet. In the last email I received, they said that it's still early for them to decide the exact date: "As we are still early for Fall start (09/03/2024), we do not have any finite dates scheduled for the mandatory 2-day orientation (1 day virtual & 1 day in person). Orientation typically occurs within 30 days of the cohort start. I will update you as soon as I have more definite dates for you to plan on attending.”

I received this information too. Was just hoping someone else was as pushy as me asking on the side too 🥲

I am a prospective student for the program and I was wondering if those who were admitted or waitlisted could share some of your stats in terms of GPA and extracurriculars.. things like that. Thanks !

I was interviewed for both, and got accepted into the case management track. I had about 3.6 GPA, and just a good amount of clinical volunteer/shadowing hours.

I was only interviewed for case management track and waitlisted. I had a 2.5 undergrad GPA which discouraged me from applying, but I have B or higher in prereqs. I work at UCSF and have a lot of hours shadowing NPs and other APPs. I had 3 strong letters of recs from them. I also have a good amount of volunteer hours. 

Anyone that was accepted thinking of dropping their spot in the case management track for this Fall ? Just want to see if there's any hope. LOL

Hi I was on the waitlist at 6 and then got accepted. My undergrad GPA was a 2.8 and I  failed anatomy & physiology 2x and Microbiology 1x but then I retook them and got an A and B. I volunteer at my local hospital, was a pharmacy tech for 5 years, and currently work in community mental health providing case management resources. I was very hesitant on applying due to my GPA however in the application I got to explain myself a little bit and in the interview I got to explain myself more and show my readiness. Hii! Congratulations on getting into the FNP program last year and hope you're doing well! I applied for fall 2025 and currently in the process of hearing back for interviews. I was wondering if you recall what your interview was like or any tips you can share?  Thanks and congrats again! 🤍
